Hi all 9 days with out laxatives iv been having porridge every morning iv been having At the moment normal bowel moment stomach less bloated no pains in my tummy what's happened it doesn't make any sense I was struggling without laxatives before all of sudden I can go

“It’s a minefield “ is a phrase used a lot on here! With my experiences and reading others I’d agree totally. What I have learned is there is no one solution fits all; each of us are different.

When I was first diagnosed with diverticulosis via colonoscopy my GP’s advice was to start a trial-and-error, process of elimination approach. See what foods upset me and what foods help. He was unwilling to ‘shove me straight onto medication’ , rather explore the natural ways.

For me, at the moment, lots of natural fibre keeps me level. Fruit and vegetables on a regular basis usually works along with high fibre breakfast cereals. I have live yogurt in the morning which seems to help- but only one brand- others make me go into a spin!

All that said, bad days pop up randomly and I have no control over them. Nothing I do relieves the pain, nausea and lethargy so I just work through it.

FODMAP diet lists are interesting, half of the green list upsets me while half the red list I eat without issue 😂

Try different things, if you come across something that works for you, keep doing it!

Hi

No, IBS makes no sense at all and you will experience ups and downs. Keep up the porridge though, nothing better, I make mine with mostly water and some skimmed milk,cand plenty of seeds, walnuts and hemp 😉
