IBS Colitis or what?

About a month ago I starting having a lot of cramping, loose stools, attributed it to my long standing IBS. I go for colonoscopies every 2 years after finding a cancerous small polyp (removed and resectioned with clips at Mayo, great hospital and doctors), and have had no problems in the past several years. Fast forward now, after a month of cramping, I had incredible pain on July 3, went to ER, did CT scan w/o contrast, said colitis. Sent me home, July 5, back in severe pain, called ambulance, admitted and on antibiotics Flagyl and something else..find out it was for a UTI, which I didn't have, culture came back negative and I was really annoyed, thought they were treating colitis. I have had C-diff twice and am very hesitant using any antibiotics. After 5 days, they did a colonoscopy, no polyps, pathology said colonic mucosa with ischemic type mucosal colitis. Released from the hospital severely dehydrated, no fluids after prep (including my loose stools/watery stools) for over 15 hours, still no IV...discharged with dry mouth and elevated heart rate. Did doctor google at home and started to hydrate myself. Now, 2 weeks later, back at the Er, loose stools, lots of pain/cramping. This time they did a CT scan with IV contrast, showed nothing. I'm at a complete loss. My regular GI doctor is doing an endoscopy in 2 weeks. So worried it could be something they are missing, or could be be a really bad IBS flare? Hope everyone has a nice, healthy weekend! TIA!

Hello. Not sure where your pain was exactly..but l had severe pain in my lower right bowel. Thought it was appendicitis. Was sent to surgical ward after going to out of hours centre. I had a CT with contrast and was told it was a tumour in.my bowel. 10 days later l had a colonoscopy which showed nothing!Long story short. I was diagnosed with Epiploic Appendigitis.

A rare condition often mistaken for something else. Google it as it's too long winded to explain..

It was agony. But is self limiting. So improved over the next ten weeks.

It may not be what you have but worth.looking into.

Hope you feel better soon.
