I was diagnosed with IBS by my GP but at the time I was thinking my symptoms were mostly caused by virus or bacteria. I suspect taking supplements like multivitamins I definitely could negatively affect one’s gut; however the onset of my problems started with acute stress, anxiety and sudden consumption of pastries at a major UK chain near my workplace. My advice is to reduce or avoid Senna because it could help temporarily but your gut muscles will end up depending on it. I avoid high fibre foods for weeks, but eat low fibre foods mostly. I saw a video of a lady who recovered by eliminating high fibre consumption in 2 months and then gradually introducing them later. I use the FODMAP chart as a guide. Though I’m still hoping for a permanent solution but these steps helped me reduce the symptoms common with IBS.
