Egg problem

Does anyone have problems with different types of eggs. I'm fine with Happy Shopper supermarket eggs, but twice recently I've had a friend's free-range ones and got stomach cramps within half an hour and diarrhea the next day, my wife ate them and was fine.

I am fine with all the free range eggs I buy from Tesco's, but a couple of times have suspected an old egg of upsetting me a bit. I don't mean past their use by date, but one that's close to its date. I always test them in a pan of water first before putting them on to boil. If they float, they're bad. If they tilt under water it means there's an air pocket at one end which means they're a bit old but still fine to eat. Those smell and taste ok but I think once or twice they have upset my gut slightly.

Once I was given fresh new laid eggs by a friend. Her free range hens are organic corn-fed, and also forage in a lovely place with fresh grass, trees etc. The eggs had been laid that morning, hadn't been wiped or washed but were clean. I boiled them 8 minutes. I can't prove it was the eggs, it could have been some organic fresh chard but something upset my IBS for 3 days.

Well yes they have slightly but with an old egg it seems to be bigger as far as I've noticed.

Hi I can't touch eggs at all pain and cramping being sick ,not good. I even have to swerve the flu jab because it's derived from eggs, I did get flu this year though and was in bed for 6 weeks. It is really not advisable to miss out on your jab it's just my personal preference. If they make you poorly my advice is to give them up

I had a problem with eggs, and I love them, so I bought some duck eggs and found they taste just the same but dont make me ill.

Yes, I find hen's eggs give me nausea but are ok in baking. I'm not sure but I think its the richness of the yolk. I havent tried quiches lately.

It might depend on how the hens are fed and how they live, as to whether they have all the healthy ingredients eggs should have -or not. A good egg is an almost-complete nutritious food with all sorts of goodness in it. When hard boiled they are slightly "binding" too so helpful for the "D"

I can imagine some eggs from caged hens could contain some negative things and be deficient in nutrients too.

Personally I am grateful for eggs as they are one of my two main sources of protein, B12 and Omega-3.

I always eat free-range eggs, when I said Happy Shopper l meant Happy Egg Co. Eggs have always been one of my go to foods, but lately they don't seem to agree with me. Thanks for your reply.
