ibs and glycerin suppositories
Glycerin suppositories don't contain any pain medication. They just help you to open the bowels if there is a hard bowel movement that won't come out. I suppose they could help relieve pain if the pain was connected to that, or constipation in general, or if the pain often goes away or is less after a bowel movement.
Tried once and regretted. Two hours later, not delaying with discomfort upstream. How's your experience with laxatives -Senna, bisacodyl, movicol etc?
If the pain is because you can't pass a stool then it will relive the pain once the stools been passed.
I have been using them twice a day for many years. For me they work within 15 minutes, empty my bowel, remove painful pressure and I’m safe to leave the house. I need to go to the loo again 10 minutes later to eject the glycerin residue, then it’s comfortable. But it’s NOT a pain killer in itself!
They help if I’m constipated for a few days
In my experience they don't - because they don't affect the colon let alone the rest of the intestine, they're just things you use to make the shit come out easier.
