Hi. What symptoms do you have. I think I may have this. I have had yellow stools on and off for years. A period of stress has made it yellow watery diahorrea now ? Cheers

I get a funny kind of migraine. I think the ibs is connected. Auras (visuals) started first before ibs then slight pain right side over my eye. It was diagnosed as atypical migraine in 2018. Yes it causes nausea too and is probably upsetting my gut at times. Dizzy spells too, brain fog, trembling, eye twitches and lower back pain in SI joints.

I wonder if theres a migraine connection with some people with ibs

Some days I think my head is going to explode take pain relief but doesn't help

I think it is acknowledged that there is and both can be caused by stress so makes sense. I’ve suffered from migraines since my teens and am over 80 now but IBS arrived in my early twenties during a period of great stress. It hasn’t been a problem all the the time but reactivates after a stressful period. The worst symptom is very bad pain and diarrhoea, a reversal of my usual IBS- D.

Quite often ordinary painkillers don't help migraine. Weird with me because I only get a slight headache so haven't taken ibuprofen or anything for it. It's the other symptoms that I hate.

If you think it might be migraine see what the doc. thinks? I had to go to a neurologist to get diagnosed, and they gave me a CT scan which was so easy to do, just the travelling to get there for silly o clock in the morning which wasn't fun

Have you tried staying away from Lactose. Milk is in everything including cakes and pastries some breads. I have now cured mine. Most of my family are also Lactose intolerant at different levels. I cannot express how this has helped so many members. Try it. It works.

Yes moved to lactose milk and gluten free products but to no avail still getting symptoms

Hi Radio200, I suffer from migraines, dizziness and vertigo due to tightening of my neck and shoulder muscles. The symptoms get worse when my digestive problems get worse, so I have always thought that there is a connection. I am on a low histamine diet to try to reduce the inflammation, it has reduced the symptoms, but sometimes I wake up with a headache and my neck is as stiff as a board. No amount of massage will release the muscles until the inflammation has subsided. As I don't take painkillers (they upset my digestion), I have sometimes resorted to sitting in a bath of cold water to get some relief.

Hi, have you ever thought that it all could be related to a problem with (some of) your nervous systems? I'm digging deeper and deeper to try to understand what's the real cause of all my symptoms and therefore asked for a referral to a neurologist lately. As I understand now (heriditary?) neuropathy could connect all the dots. Till now no medical doctor I have seen has come up with this plausible cause of my the all over the body symptoms including gastrointestinal issues like IBS. I have to figure it out myself. In the meantime I started taking rhodiola rosea again in a rather high dosage to lower the stress in my body caused by dysfunctional nervous systems = my latest hypothesis 🙂

Your hypothesis is right. Neuropathy is linked to IBS as well as many other gut conditions (and well, possibly most other conditions too!) Our CNS has a lot to answer for when things go out of sync and I say this because I do have a neurological issue and also 25 years of IBS (and now past few months IBD) that came about initially through headaches that progressed to migraine and would last about 6 months each time before subsiding. I will say that stress factors definitely played a role too.... I also got auras before the migraines and yes, felt very light headed as if I was about to faint.

I think IBS is far more than a digestive disorder- it makes you feel utterly miserable, - headaches, eye aches, strange sensations in the face and neck, joint and muscle aches- as well as the gastric issues, and I don’t think it’s all due to stress. It’s also not related to the number of good or bad bacteria in your guts. I feel sure it’s to do with the nervous system but the only links I can find are to do with the gut biome affecting the brain and vice versa. The vagus nerve is implicated but try finding any useful info about calming it apart from some whacky YouTube videos about neck stretches. Hence nobody can give you any answers, all function tests come back as normal but people still suffer with a load of undiagnosable and seemingly random symptoms.

Radio2000, it may have something to do with a deficiency causing your headache, nausea and IBS. Adequate bioactive thiamine (vitamin B1) is needed by the brain, the vagus nerve and gut for proper function. There are anti thiamine factors that diminish thiamine. For a comprehensive list found on the stuttering blog search on "stuttering anti thiamine factors". Thiamine needs adequate magnesium to become bioactive. Like thiamine, there are a variety of causes for magnesium loss. For a list search on "krispin magnesium" This link provides further info in IBS and thiamine. I encourage you to search on both for their benefits for the heart and stress.. Always consult your health care provoder before using any supplement.

Do you take Loperamide Hydrochloride because it may be side effects, might be worth asking your doctor.
