Anyone tried CBD Oil

Hi

I have had IBS for over 30yrs. Some of it is food related but also Anxiety related. I am always looking for something that may help. I take Symprove probiotic which does help a bit. Lately I have been looking in to CBD oil after seeing is advertised on TV. It seems to help with pain and anxiety. Has anybody tried it or is it just "the in thing'' at the moment.

Hi Sparrow, I tried cbd oil a while back - did nothing for me. Also tried cannibis tea without any effect (except it did smell and taste like a proper joint but without the lovely effects :-)) I have anxiety and find many off the shelf products too mild to be of any use. But I guess its a case of trial and error with the aim of finding something that works for you.

unfortunately i echo what’s already been said- I tried CBD: oil and capsules (in faring strengths) and found it didn’t do anything.

But I’d encourage you to at least try for yourself as it could be a positive step for you personally.

Good luck👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Sparrow58, I have almost given up trying things but just recently I came across CBD patches, see link below:

brownscbd.co.uk/cbd-patches...

I had tried CBD oil some time back and if I remember rightly it made me a bit constipated so I didn't repeat the process. But a couple of weeks ago I came across these patches, so I thought what the hell. I tried them last week, they seemed to make me feel less like needing the toilet. The good thing is that you are not taking anything by mouth so if you feel like it is having too much of a reaction you don't like you can just take them off! The first time I tried them I was in a lot of pain and the pain eased up almost immediately (but it might have been a fluke) then next time I tried it, it seemed to make my feel less like I needed the loo, like it was drying out my system (if you get my drift) but after a while I took it off as I thought it might be dehydrating me too much. What I am trying to say is you can play with them to suit yourself in the moment, whereas if you take a tablet you can't really untake it.

I'd give them a try if I was you, you've got nothing to loose apart from the cost. There are two strengths, I went for the 15mg for £21 for 30 patches. You only need one patch a day.

Let us know what you think, if you give it a try!

Hi Sparrow58, just wondering what you thought of the patches?!

Hi Maureen1958 Thanks for getting in touch.

I thought the patches were OK. I used them for a few days. Then I got a bit anxious about using them and gave up. I don't like using things long-term. I use Bach rescue night drops as and when I need them, I use these as they contain no alcohol. Also lopermide if going out. I was not sure if I used CBD if I could carry on with that.

Hope things are OK with you.

Take Care x

The patches sound like a great way to give CBD a try. Thanks Maureen. I will think about maybe getting some and see what happens. I wouldn't like to be constipated, but maybe slightly "erring on that side" perhaps?

Actually the more dried up I get, the better food choices I have, so it gets like Christmas for me! lol

I think it is a thing of the moment - I tried it and it did nothing other than cost me 80 bucks, others I know have tried it and it has helped for paid and some anxiety. I think we are just all different. When I try new things I try them for 2 weeks and make a decision.

I am in your boat - over 30 years with gut issues. I have found the thing that helps me most is reducing stress, work outs and physical activity that takes my mind off the chronic symptoms and gives my mind time to rest and reset. But diet clearly is also something that needs to be looked at heavily.

I have had a lot of luck with cannabinoids for pain, insomnia & anxiety - CBD, CBG, CBN, Delta 8 & HCC. Unlike straight cannabis, they don't make you loopy - just relaxed more than anything. Probably available only in the States - and not in every state either.

Hi. I’ve considered CBD too but then I read it would interact with the thyroid medication I take so wasn’t able to. Worth checking before you try it if you take any prescribed medication.

I've used CBD oil since 2018. With PMS I find that it does not help with the pain as much as with the mood. At one point I had stopped it because it was a rather high dose of CBD and I acted kind of "stupid" and loud mouthed. I take it occasionally now, but no great affect.

I have been curious about CBD products, but a bit scared of trying it because when I tried Marijuana in my 20s twice, each time it made me feel weird and not so well. Nauseous, a bit "soulless" and horrible. I decided to never go near it again.

So while I know CBD doesn't have the THC thing that Marijuana has, I was still dodgy about trying it.

But I'll be interested in reading if anyone else has tried it for IBS and if it's helped.

Hi Luisa22 I am also a bit scared by it. I did get some patches, they did make me feel tired. The thing is although I did feel calmer, I do not like taking things longterm except a probiotic. I feel that the moment I stop CBD the anxiety will be back. If I am going into a stressful situation I will take a " a just in case" immodium and some bach rescue night remedy (no alcohol in this one) and that seems to help a bit . I do not want to mix bach remedy with CBD as they are unsure if they mix ok. Take care x

Hi, I also suffer from IBS D which is anxiety related. If I'm at home and not getting worried about going away from home I'm ok. But as soon as I know I need to leave the confines of home and garden my IBS is in overdrive. I have seen CBDAND products advertised a lot recently but haven't tried tbem. I am using Loperamide as and when necessary, don't like to take them but they do help me. My anxiety had got worse over the last two years, this exacerbates my IBS D severely. Even now if I know family are coming to visit I'm in a bad way and that shouldn't be. My GP suggested Amitriptyline, that gave me the shakes so I stopped those. Then she suggested Sertraline, that gave me acute diahorrea so I stopped those after the first one. If I have no worries about going away from home or having anyone coming to visit I'm fine, but it's ruining my life now. I do hope you can find a solution, but so far I'm struggling to find one. Good luck.

Hi TedsMum 247

Thanks for your reply. I am like you get anxious if going out and the "what ifs" I stopped using my CBD patches as I did not want to use something all the time. I still have my Bach remedy and Imodium instants, I prefer these as sometimes I only need 1/2 a tablet.

I hate IBS and the anxiety it brings. I hope one day they can work out why some of us get this while others don't. All the best.
