So Wednesday i had a very bad flare up i had to call in stick today. Called the again doctors because i cant keep carrying on like this. Got prescribe 3 different medications a blood test for tomorrow they also signed me off of work for 2 weeks. I feel so bad about takingthe time off that i probably wont even use it but if i dont and dont take the time i need to get better it will get worse. Should i take the time?

My advice would be to take the time off, a flare up can be exhausting and use this time wisely and rest and have some 'me' time. If you stress about going back or not it will elevate your symptoms further. Just my humble opinion. Best of luck x

Thank you. I have honestly been considering leaving and doing something else. The stress doesn't feel worth it.

I would take the 2 weeks the doctor suggests, Stress is an IBS trigger anyway. And what you need now is rest, maybe adjust your diet to something boring and bland, get as much sleep as you can. I know I am much older than you, and it must be tough on you as a young person with pressures on you, but I know I can't be any good to anyone when having a flare up. I will try to carry on working at my own pace, and just manual work outside, but I have to take it much more easy. All I have to do is take care of myself, manage symptoms, and wait for it to pass. I hope your flare up eases off very soon.

Thank you, I actually decided to go back to work on Monday however on light duties. I don't work weekends so I can use that to relax. Unfortunately I can't afford not to work for the 2 weeks unless I'm completely useless.

Yes, I understand. Well, I hope the light duties will be easier for you, and it will be fine to take 'bathroom breaks' when you need them, and you'll get through. We all need money, that is for sure. Good luck, Jay.

It's a phased return to work so hopefully that will help. Thank you

am sure it will. Please don’t ever feel guilty for time off from work for IBS.
