Hi, ive had IBS for 2yrs, had attacks approx once a month, started I think by a weight watchers diet which I ate too much fruit I think, then it increased to every 2 weeks, until I had a urine infection and had to go hospital last nov, pain was horrific and sure I had IBS at same time. Since then it seems to be monthly again. I dont get diarrhoea but get really bad bloating and really painful cramps when eat/drink, Spasmonal helps, any other helpful suggestions please as I mostly read about IBS sufferers with diarrhoea problems rather than without. Thanks

I've had really bad bloating on a daily basis for the last 20 years. The low fodmap diet went some way to helping but I've gone on to a low chemical diet now which seems to have reduced my bloating significantly. If fruit causes you a problem chemicals called salicylates could be the culprit as just about all fruits are high in it. Australia seem to be leading the way with food intolerance and the low chemical diet. The following links will explain.

allergy.net.au/ibs-informat...

I hope that helps.

You say you get it monthly - is there a hormonal issue do you think?

Hi, no I dont think it is, I was wondering if its a build up of summit over a 4 week period per say, but even then its not always monthly now. I wondered if when I had the urine infection in Nov, had antibiotics, then my homeopath put me on a detox to rid my system of the antibiotics whether my body reacted well to the lack of bad bacteria and to the good bacteria in my probiotics, cause I went from 2 weekly attacks to none for nearly 2 months!!! Gotta be summit in that?

hey terasa had IBS for ages it's part of my fibro. I cut down on wheat and coffee that seems to have helped with the bloating and cramps try herbal teas like peppermint, fennel or chamomile they act as a muscle relaxant works for me. good luck.

Hi, trying hard to replace my normal 4+ cups of tea a day with more water and peppermint tea instead, helps with the harder stools I seems to be suffering with since Dec as well.

you don't need to stop your tea just have 2 cups of peppermint, fennel or chamomile tea throughout the day and one before bed they sooth and relax the intestines, as I said bread bungs you up so try cutting down on that Think of it this way. If you soak bread then push it down your kitchen drain it blocks it, well see your intestines as the drain, when bread gets wet it swells that's why you should never feed ducks bread.

In my efforts to find out my triggers I was told that a trigger will present itself within 4 days!!!!! I was also told by someone else that it can be within an hour???? which is it? an hour should be easy to find the trigger, but 4 days would be impossible to figure out surely. Can you give me your findings please folks x
