And it's like 2am and im emetophobic and really afraid. I was feeling nauseous so i went to sleep. I woke up at 10pm. I tried to eat fried rice but at the middle i felt even more nauseous so i stopped. Now even the smell of food triggers me. My stomache and esophagus feel hot from the inside. My guts roared and made me visit the bathroom. Idk whether to try to take probiotics or there are already enough bacteria

Nauseous and really scared
hi I’m also terrified of being sick, so I empathise with you.
The burning feeling in your oesophageal tract is down to acid. Look at what you are eating, certain fruits and vegetables are very acidic, drinks also. You should speak to your GP as you might need to be on a PPI to reduce acid reflux, you could have an ulcer and so they need to check your symptoms really.
In the meantime eat smaller amount but more frequently during the day and drink lots of fluids but avoid alcohol and fizzy.
Avoid too much dairy as once it hits the stomach it can cause excess acid particularly cows milk! If you start probiotics they take a while to kick in to make a difference and sometimes they can initially upset the gut whilst your body gets used to them, but they are good for the gut long term.
Not everyone likes ginger but I find a small chunk of raw ginger steeped in previously boiled water, helps to ease nausea. Buscopan also helps as eases the cramping and gas build up, so that’s worth a try.
Thank you for the detailed advice. I tried buscopan and it eased me. Heard ginger is good but to me it's a bit too spicy so i go with mint and chamomile. Absolutely agree that burning feeling is acids and thanks for the advice on probiotics. My mom used to give me enormous amounts thinking the more, the better, but im seeing that's not how it works. My condition stabilized a bit and i hope i don't have an ulcer because my GP already sent me to other tests and won't want to use my student insurance too much.
I hope you are feeling better this morning. It’s horrible when your stomach flares up.
Agree with the above answer . Maybe along with the buscopan try some chamomile tea to help sooth the stomach. It has a mild antispasmodic effect too.
Maybe instead of fried rice try something plain, like a cracker. If that seems ok, some porridge or plain rice ( not fried) , plain yogurt , banana . You can add your probiotic to the yogurt (break it up & add half a tablet, add the rest to more later ). Be gentle, just small portions until your stomach can cope .
I hope you are feeling better now? Could this have been related to an IBS flare up? I know that when I get a flare up, the upset gut lower down can sometimes make me feel a bit shaky and nauseous, and that comes on usually after I've been to the bathroom more than once and had very loose bowel movements.
I think it just upsets the whole system.
Vomiting usually doesn't go along with IBS, but nausea can.
Maybe you had a really acid stomach? If I get that I just take a Tums or Rennies. Usually that happens when I have eaten a bit too much.
Fried rice isn't such a good idea if you have any kind of tummy discomfort. The best thing is to keep your food very very plain at times like that. Things like crackers, dry toast (or even with a little butter on if fats don't upset you.) boiled eggs, plain boiled chicken or steamed fish, until your tummy settles again. Eating late at night can definitely cause indigestion and a burning feeling too.
I/m not saying 'don't take probiotics', but I doubt if probiotics would have been a quick cure for what you were feeling the other night.
If you get nauseous again, you can try nibbling on pieces of ginger (not too big a piece) and combine with a bit of honey as they are very hot for the mouth and honey makes them easier to eat. Or make a ginger tea. Peppermint tea made strong might help too.
