hi everyone. I come back to see if anyone is suffering the same. GP wants to send a fit test off but I have refuse. I suffer bad piles. The last time I had a scan 2 years ago was clear. I am in a stressful situation at the moment and wondering if this could be the cause. Many thanks

IBS, LEFT SIDED PAIN AND BLOOD IN STOOL
Well, a FIT test is non-invasive, but if you already know you have blood in your stool, then I’m not sure what it might tell you that is new. You could try asking your GP what new information the FIT test might give you. A blood test might be useful, to look for cancer markers. Unfortunately, your symptoms could mean anything or nothing, from cancer right down to stress. My instinct is to generally go with the doctor on these occasions as they know more than me on medicine and have my best interests at heart. But there’s nothing to stop you asking questions about what new information a test might reveal. You should be involved in your own care. Lastly, everyone should have a “kitbox” of stress-busting activities, that work for them to lessen anxiety. That could be going for a walk, knitting, singing, listening to music, having a long bath. Be kind to yourself - you are worth it, and it may even improve your symptoms! Good luck!
Amazing response from SingC there to be honest. I get pains in my left side (just above my hips really) and this can be caused by a build up as I suffer from slow transit dysbiosis. So that is when I know I have or can expect overflow.
Have to excuse the pun but the blood in the stool is a red marker that needs checking just to be sure it's nothing sinister. More often than not it isn't but it still needs to be checked.
Having a tool box for relaxing is absolutely something we should all have. Try different things and be open minded. I never used to get on with breathing exercises but it works for me now, most of the time. Getting out for walks and in the fresh air too, priceless.
Definitely get checked, explain your anxieties and be ruddy forthright with asking questions. Your body your health and your right to know what the Drs train of thought it.
any updates I have the same thing
