Where do I go from here?

I’m not sure if I’m in the right place as I haven’t even been diagnosed with anything but my mind is going into over drive and wanted some advice. I’ve been experiencing abdominal pain on/off since early November. It’s only on my right side and goes into my pelvic area, hip and back even up to my ribs. I was seen at A&E where blood tests, urine tests and abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds came back clear. They ruled out kidney stones and appendicitis. I have also been experiencing bleeding when I pass stools but there are definite lumps underneath so my GP has prescribed an ointment to help reduce the size of the haemorrhoid(s). I’ve now had a stool test and a blood test to check for anaemia but nothing has come back. Where do I go from here? The GP doesn’t seem interested. I’m so worried. I’m convinced it’s something bad.

How are your bowel movements? If they are irregular, that might point to IBS.

A colonoscopy might be one other test to consider.

They are pretty regular every day, always loose, although sometimes I get constipated.

I agree with winfong that a colonoscopy would be worth doing. Also, a gastroenterologist would be worth seeing.

Ask to be referred to a gastroenterologist, insist on it if your GP is resistant. Get to the source of your concerns you deserve too. You will only worry more if you dont.

As a few other people have mentioned requesting to be referred to a Gastroenterologist is probably the best next step, It’s the path I followed to getting my diagnosis.

They were able to book me in for an endoscopy & Colonoscopy.

Put me forward for an MRI scan, and ultrasound.

Firstly I would change your GP to another that is a bit more understanding and is willing to investigate the issue, at least this will put your mind at rest. You should never have blood in your poo and even if the GP suspects that it is haemorrhoids they should follow it up by referring you onto to the specialist, it maybe that they can be banded if they aren't too big, problem solved in that area. With regards to the stomach cramps I would suggest Super Strength 50 Billion CFU Advanced Pro Bio Cultures Complex with 16 Live Strains Supplement | UK Made - Free Soul for a few months to see if things change. If that doesn't work then maybe consider 20mg Citalopram for the GP which is known to help IBS conditions in some people, including myself who had the same sorts of pains that you describe
