I’m not sure if I’m in the right place as I haven’t even been diagnosed with anything but my mind is going into over drive and wanted some advice. I’ve been experiencing abdominal pain on/off since early November. It’s only on my right side and goes into my pelvic area, hip and back even up to my ribs. I was seen at A&E where blood tests, urine tests and abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds came back clear. They ruled out kidney stones and appendicitis. I have also been experiencing bleeding when I pass stools but there are definite lumps underneath so my GP has prescribed an ointment to help reduce the size of the haemorrhoid(s). I don’t know where else to go- GP keeps dismissing it.

First be aware that your mental health will affect your physical health. Second see another GP if you feel it isn’t being given the attention it needs.
Not much help I know but try to stay on top of your stress levels. It could be a trigger or an aggravating factor.
i wouldn't have thought that Ultrasound is the best investigation for potential bowel and GI diseases. I had gastrosxope, small bowel camera MRI and CT to investigate anaemia and weight loss and pain. Finally colonoscopy revealed diverticulitis. It could have been worse. I may have autoimmune disease too. You need to have a chat with your GP about your concerns.
Hi Yellow Dancing, sadly letting your GP to take you seriously can be a bit of a trial. Sometimes you need to be politely persistent. See a different doctor in the practice if you can. I was lucky enough to see a locum at my GP. He freely admitted to having no knowledge of gut issues, so he referred me to a gastroenterologist.
Hi, so sorry to hear you're struggling. I had a similar experience last year with months of right side abdominal pain which also affected my groin and back and some blood which was put down immediately to hemerroids. I think you just have to persevere with your GP practice. I spoke to 4 doctors before I persuaded one to refer me urgently with pain and bleeding for a colonoscopy and gynaecologist scan. All was well and the symptoms have improved very significantly now I'm not worried, I did do a 3 month diet excluding dairy and gluten and took Alflorex probiotics which I think helped too - I've still no idea what triggered the pain as I'm 60+ and luckily had never had any gastric problems before. Good luck with your GP, the right tests will most likely put your mind at rest and ease the pain, I know how awful the anxiety of waiting is. Take care of yourself and let us know how you're doing.
