Is it IBS or not?

I have a reaction to all food, todsy everything’s gone through me not eaten much. Pelvic pressure pain is like a dull ache. I’ve had gluten tolerance e bloods and showing all normal. Not really sure what’s going on!

I have no other real symptoms just bloating and bad bowels.

any suggestions would be welcomed.

What you get could possibly be IBS, yes. I get phases like you describe. Bad flare ups sometimes. Thankfully they are a bit fewer and further between now, but I hate them and am always a bit scared of wnother one hitting me out of the blue like they usually do with me.

Did your doctor do stool tests for you? That would be a first step, to see if anything's out of balance, and there are no signs of blood or inflammation. There's also a bile acid malabsorption test. BAM can cause awful diarrhea. The blood test should have ruled out any issues with liver or pancreas I imagine... But check that too with your doc.

If stool tests all come up squeaky clean too, then many doctors will diagnose IBS based on that and symptoms. My doctor didn't see the need to refer me for any more or invasive tests after those and a blood test. I was very relieved to be honest, but then stuck with IBS! 2 years + now.

Have you been tested for and diagnosed with IBS? This is done by eliminating other things. If this is the case, you could try Alflorex probiotic which has been scientifically studied for IBS, in case your symptoms are related to a gut bacterial imbalance.

when I’m like that I do the BRAT diet, bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. Some days those don’t work either but a banana will usually stay down. Feel better soon.

You need to see a GP for an official diagnosis of IBS, it should not be self-diagnosed or assumed.

There are many bowel conditions all with similar symptoms, but all treated very differently, without knowing what you are suffering with you will not be able to start living well with your condition.

What else could it be? | The IBS Network

Symptoms of IBS indicate a sensitivity and irritability of the gut, which may, of course, be caused by other diseases that irritate or cause inflammation of the bowel. Your doctor will always need to consider the possibility of one of these.

Without a diagnosis from a medical practitioner no one will be able to advise you on treatment and you will not be able to start feeling well again. It cannot be diagnosed over the phone as there are certain tests that need to be carried out to rule out other conditions.
