Symptoms and for how long

hiya all im a 37 year old male had both cameras 1 down my throat and 1 up my bottom which both tests came back all clear. Just slight inflamation from alcid reflux which i got medication for.

I have stomach cramps which go into both sides below my ribs and my lower back sometimes even feels like its in my groin.

This episode has been on near enough everyday for a good few weeks now does anyone elses pains and cramps last weeks on end with ease up? Then maybe dissappear for a week or 2 then come back?

Mimy pain makes me feel uncomfortable and csn be a sharp pain or a dull ache.

I also go from pencil thin stools to diarrhea to normal looking stools some times there light coloured then other times dark.

Thanks for reading any replies are welcome.

I have another stool test to do and take back to doctors to test but done several of these and they are always clear.

I had an endoscopy/colonoscopy in 2014 and again in 2021 for heartburn and diarrhea. Both came back "normal." I get cramps sometimes when I go, but not all the time. I also go from pencil thin stools to diarrhea to normal looking stools. It changes daily. My stool tests always show very high inflammation, but as the colonoscopy comes back OK, there is nothing to do. I have benefited from a yeast based probiotic but still get flare ups which I think may be related to anxiety. Any chance you also have anxiety?

I have had IBS for many years, and had various tests, but it has, in my case, become worse since I had Covid over 2 years ago. From my experience stress and anxiety definitely make symptoms worse, but I have found the FODMAP diet a useful guideline. I would be interested to hear if other people have found that Covid has worsened their IBS

its a complex situation. when you have Gut issues, then stress come due to it. so its like a vicious cycle, gut issues cause stress and stress cause gut issues, both need to be stopped, if we need to heal, but so far no cure found.

so many got healed but based on my research, its a hit and trial. not one solution works for everyone. Everyone is different, even though their symptoms match

Your will power is the main defense here. Keep trying different things. just keep going on and on and on, its like a new battle. a WAR. just keep pushing yourself you can do it. once you say i give up, then its over

Have the bowel movements stabilized? Anything helped? Or do they still look different every day?

38 male here, have had cameras pretty much up and down every hole you can imagine (!). What i would say regards the groin area pain: check you dont have kidney stones as i only recently discovered via an emergency room ct scan that this is what i had to explain the lower behind ribs pain. Had been suffering it for years but was never found on urine tests.

Keep fit and drink gallons of water is my advice. Massively helps.

You may be suffering from visceral hypersensitivity (functional abdominal pain) - there is info about it here:

iffgd.org/lower-gi-disorder...

It is where the brain interprets the normal activity of the bowel as pain - this is due to a wearing down of neurons in pain control centres of the brain which can be caused by PTSD, difficult childhoods, extreme stressful events etc. The first line treatment is nerve pain agents such as low dose amitriptyline. There is a theory that being on something like amitriptyline for 6-12 months can help the pain control centre neurons to regenerate. Note that amitriptyline can cause constipation, but this can be helpful in people who are diarrhea dominant.

The pain can also come from dominant bad bugs in the gut from a gut bacterial imbalance. These can over sensitise the nerves in the intestines. This is why it is worth trying Alflorex probiotic in the first instance to avoid taking drugs. This has been scientifically studied for IBS and can help kick bad bugs into touch. There is also the Nerva gut directed hypnotherapy app which helps send calming signals to the gut.

I have similar symptoms and was told by a physio that it may be related to pelvic floor dysfunction, which is a problem where the pelvic floor and subsequently your bowels, anus, etc. have a difficulty relaxing. I would suggest looking it up on line and doing regular exercises, at least once / day for a minimum of a month provided me with relief, but it does take time!

Your symptoms sound par for the course to me, I have had IBS for over 35 years, daily for the last 30 years. Symptoms can change along the journey.

my 20 yr old daughter has had pains and diarrhoea for weeks now. Is she takes immodium diarrhoea eases and when she stops immodium diarrhoea comes back. We are trying enterosgel (2nd day to see if this helps). Stool tests normal, suffered from extremely severe health and general anxiety

I'd recommend getting your gall bladder checked and watch out for any artificial sweeteners especially sorbitol - hypnotherapy can really help with anxiety too.

I still eat stuff that upsets me, but on days in, days I dont need to go out.

Best of luck
