Finished a course of one week treatment 6 weeks ago and am still on the Omeprazole! I’ve good days and bad but still get sore bloated tummy weeks after.
I’m due for a camera test but doctor says can take a while to settle. How longs a while? Are we talking days weeks or months? Anyone have any experience with this
I had endoscopy 2 weeks ago and the they didnt find anything except h pylori. I also completed the triple therapy course last week but it has made little difference infact I think my acidity is a bit more since stopping the medication.
Did the heavy dose of antibiotics and PPI make acidity a bit worse initially?
I am also continuing with omeprazole 20mg daily. Is that what you are taking?
I was fobbed off for ages with ibs but symptoms got worse. Like gas and trapped wind and a gripping tugging in the guts. Also spasms. I still get some of these in the evening and bloating.
A new doctor found it in a stool test. Don’t know how long these things take to calm down. How was the camera test,? I’m a bit concerned
Hi. I have to wait for at least 4 ton8 weeks after the course to see if the bacteria has gone.
The endoscopy was fine. I took the throat spray not sedation. A bit uncomfortable but overall not painful at all.
I had stool test in July which came back negative for h pylori but it could be because I was on omeprazole at the time. I had to stop omeprazole for 11 days before the endoscopy
My symptoms are thighness in the upper abdominal or a feeling that something is stuck in my throat
Were you on a higher PPI dose as part of the triple therapy? If so have you reduced the dose after the course and did this increase the acidity for you initially?
I’m still on one 40 m per day. Also they gave me Alverine which I’m no longer taking. Either that or the omeprozole is giving me odd stools formed but soft messy at times
I took a second antibiotics course because symptoms had not improved. But I still continuing with 20mg omeprazole twice a day for now.
Did you feel the symptoms when you were on 40mg ? Have your symptoms settled down now? Did acidity cause tightness in the chest and stomach when hungry
Yes, I had to bite the bullet and suffer reflux after coming off omeprozole. I’ve not had symptoms now for about 3 weeks so in total almost 4 months from the time I’d finished the antibiotics to finally settling
Thanks i mean did you have the symptoms when you were on omeprazole after the treatment. I think you said you continued with omeprazole 40mg for 7 weeks after the antibiotics course? Also did they find any gastritis in your endoscopy?
What were these anti spasm medicines? Did they help with stomach or chest pain,? Did you need a prescription for them?
I have kept myself on 20mg twice a day because it helps me for most part of the day. Late afternoon to evening is usually when things get bad and I have to keep eating every 2 hours or so . Just wanted to know if anyone else has been on 40mg for long period
Alverine tablets. But can’t say they did anything for me.Try and step down the omeprozole to 10 mg twice a day and after a couple of weeks just 10 once a day. Avoid chocolate, alcohol, smoking or carbs, and tomato
I am struggling a bit with 20mg twice a day so going to 10 mg is a bit risky. I just finished the second antibiotics course last week. Also only 2nd month into my new job so need to keep going.
I haven't had chocolates for months and I don't drink alcohol or smoke. I cannot eat a lot of food anyway. Get full quickly
My GI thinks that h pylori is not causing these symptoms. He thinks its non ulcer dyspepsia which I find difficult to believe
I can’t say I really got on with the ppi. Little side effects like you mention but after stopping them I used rennie as this was the only thing that works for me. I find gavascon useless
I was diagnosed with h pylori in Sept 2019. Triple drug treatment done and negative re-test. However I still struggle with intermittent constipation and my stomach constantly rolls and gurgles and I bloat after eating certain things. I've put up with this for 2 years now, so I'm seeing another specialist in 6 weeks time.
