Been looking at a probiotic that has L.Plantaurum in but filler is potato starch - is this ok or likely to give a problem or side effect if you have stomach issues/ibs/wind/constipation?
Another one I was interested in has rice bran and cultured with soya but said no soya left in and cultured on it to make it entirely vegan. Nervous about this one too as I do not want soya of any description in my body.
I can't give you feedback about potato starch used as a filler in a probiotic or other tablet. The only feedback (and I don't know if it's useful) is that potatoes contain resistant starch, and that can act like fibre in the colon. I can sometimes eat potatoes with no problem, but sometimes they can have too much of a 'laxative' effect on me the next day (IBS-D).
But I'm talking about a medium amount of potatoes on my plate, not about the tiny amount of starch that would be in a tablet. It's likely that amount wouldn't have any effect on me at all.
I've not found probiotics helpful. In fact since I've discontinued them I've noticed better results in gut health. There are not many the right types that will make it to your intestines where they need to act. To begin with without knowing your own microbiome (through testing like GI360) you may be wasting your money on the pills and causing further imbalances.
Probably right but have stopped before and had to go back on them but i only do few strains. As histamine intolerant have to be careful. How did your gut improve
I went on the ultimate elimination diet, switched from keto to carnivore. Have had amazing improvements and overall benefits are truly amazing. Sounds extreme perhaps but when ones health is on the line you'll try anything.
