Has anyone with IBS C found that symprove or alforex (or any other brand of probiotics) has helped with their symptoms?

I have IBSC and BAM I do not bother with the expensive difficult ones. They are more or less the same although they would have you believe otherwise. I take yakult a reasonable price and found in any supermarket. I need a gluten free one as I am also celiac. At first I didn't think it did anything but after about a week I felt a difference. It takes a long time to regain a healthy balance. I now feel a difference if I don't take it. I was recently on antibiotics and expected it to upset me like before, but only a mild reaction this time. I did not get on with the yakult LIGHT one.

I have used Holland and Barratt's one a day capsules. They worked very well in helping to re-regulate my gut. However, the general consensus seems to be that you should only take them for a short period. But others may not agree with this!

I take Alflorex. It hasn't helped with the 'C' but it has helped hugely with the pain and made me more tolerant to a wider range of foods including fibre, so I can increase my fibre to a level where it helps with the 'C'.

Yes- A more than month long attack abated after consultant dietician ( paid for via BUPA) advised ( inter alia & avoiding stress, late night meals and fizzy drinks) 1 daily Bimuno sachet (prebiotic) and daily 2 capsules Biokult (probiotic) UK brands but avail online. I did not have C or D but just bloating, wind, pain and lots and lots of small but normal looking motions. I have stayed on this regime and occasionally get attack but not lasting long.

I have been taking Symprove for over a year and it has helped. It is not a cure but it has eased the symptoms. . I am IBS mixed. Just to warn you I found it made symptoms worse at first. Their customer service team are helpful and also quick replying.

IBS-C is usually caused by lactose, fructose or fructan intolerance. Go on an elimination diet and you will find the cause.

I tried both of these neither worked for me, but they may work for you.
