I have ibs D and I’m looking for some advice on what others have for breakfast and snack on in the day?
I am away for work in the week (no fridge or facilities) so looking for something I can keep in my bag with minimal preparation - a cereal or something easy?
And any other snack recommendations!
Thanks

I had to give up my healthy breakfast which wasn't easy but I learned my lesson. I have IBS-d too. I had to do the one thing I would never have done all my life and that is to eat white toast for breakfast, and that's all I eat most often. If my gut is behaving normally for a few days, I might have a small banana, or some well cooked mashed apple without skin.
But mostly it's white toast. With that my gut is pretty calm all day.
I have found the tastiest white bread is ciabatta, so that's what I have. It has close to the 'old fashioned home made' white bread flavour. I am not lactose intolerant so can handle some butter on it. Plus I can eat honey without problems so have that on one piece.
Maybe you could also try rice cakes, or puffed rice cereal? Rice cakes do taste a lot like polystyrene tiles though (lol!) They have zero flavour, and seem to depend on what is spread on them.
If you are gluten free, maybe there's a gluten free bread you can toast? But if I were you, stay away from wholewheat bread. My gut can't handle fibre in very many whole foods. I have had to stop eating seeds too, which I always used to like sprinkled on top, but they made me 'go' too much.
I don't really eat snacks, just two meals a day, the main meal is proper food as much as I can anyway. The first is the white toast. But I do like one snack which is more like dessert a couple of hours after dinner. That is plain madeira cake (another wonderful 'healthy' choice! lol) But no gut upsets as a result. Bland food, here I come!
Hi West1234, Rice Krispies are my safe breakfast I am not lactose intolerant but find the nut milks Alpro almond or hazelnut give them a bit of flavour as sometimes they can taste a bit bland. Think you can get rice cereal bars but check the ingredients for additives you may be intolerant to. Make sure you have your anti d meds with you and hope things go well. Take care Pollyboo
Peanuts are supposed to be low Fodmap, and peanut butter too. But I couldn't understand why they triggered my IBS quite a bit sometimes. Then I found out that up to 32 peanuts is low Fodmap! More than that is actually high Fodmap!
If I kept within that limit I was ok with peanuts so long as I didn't eat them every single day. I had been eating too many before.
So maybe a small amount of peanut butter might be OK?
But what suits one doesn't always suit another, so go carefully and see how peanut butter suits you.
