Advice again please! After three months Movicol for impacted bowel my GP advised I had been overdoing it with the Movicol ( Although still having terrible wind, stomach pain and feel like something there I cannot Pass. So on her advice took no laxatives' for three days and then two satchets of Fibrogel the fourth day and just one today plus 20 ml lactulose. Now again the huge amounts of BM have started and in toilet for ages trying to get bottom clean ! This is gross so apologies but is this normal after experiencing a loaded bowel . Am I ever going to have some normality ?

It probably is if the stool is now very soft. Had a similar problem with breakthrough diarrhoea for a couple of weeks. I take Fybogel and was thinking of switching to Movicol. Then someone gave me some Medjool dates and I ate 3 of those one afternoon; everything started moving, so I think I'll stick with those for a while instead. Hope you find things return to normal soon.

Do dates make things loose?

It's trial and error. After the initial 3 (!), I now have 1 or 1.5 after my dinner (don't eat pudding). Occasionally I have 2 if they're not too big. To think, at one time I could happily eat 4 or 5!!
