Anyone here experienced this 🥺

Hello everyone, I'm 19 years old and I'm concerned about this symptoms. As far as I recall, I had diarrhea for only a day in the first week of October and noticed that the color of my poop was green, so I ignored it because I assumed I ate something that upset my stomach, but I didn't have any stomach pain. After a few days, I've noticed that I haven't had any bowel movements for about 3 days, and when I finally do, I feel a pressure in my anus, as if I always have to go, and the color of my stool changes, for example, today I'll have a normal brown poop, then the next day I'll have green poop, but it's not diarrhea because it looks normal but it floats in the toilet. I've had three green bowel movements this week, one normal brown the day before and a yellow one today, and I'm freaking out. I also remembered that I've been having to push myself to go for the past few weeks, but it's getting better now that my stool is just the right amount and I poop every day, but it's still bothering me because it usually floats and is a green color. Has anyone else experienced this? I really need to talk to someone because I'm having trouble concentrating on my studies and can't seem to get it out of my head. I told my mother about it, but she did nothing. If we had the money, I would go to the doctor, but we are poor and can't afford it right now. Also, before I forget, I'm taking propan with iron vitamins, which I started in August. I'm not sure whether they're related, so if someone can give insight on this, it would be highly appreciated. Thank you!🥺

Hi the propan for the iron could be making ur poo green as iron supplements can change the color of ur poo. I sometimes get floating poo it is usually when I eat foods that don't break down in my stomach properly it just bobs around in the toilet and takes ages to flush away so try not to worry about the floating poo as it could be something u r eating that's making it float. U will get lots of good advice on here so try not to worry hope this helps abit

You should check this with your doctor. Go to a clinic if you can't afford a private doctor.

Hi worrier1602, The issues you have are related to the iron tablets that you take. Green poo is something my son occasionally has and was told by his GP that it was due to the unusual high amounts if vegetables he ate which were unusual for him. This my son agreed with as he began going vegan and it was coincidentally the first week of his new diet.

Sorry to go off piste. When you are prescribed or buy iron tablets you are supposed to be given laxatives for the duration of taking the tablets. This is because it messes with your bowels by slowing down/speeding up, or stopping the transit of your poo as well as what you've described in colour changes. Please see your GP ASAP as you don't want problems when you finish the course of tablets. All the best 😍

Hi. I have read that if your poop floats, it is possibly undigested fat. Sometimes whatever you ate has too much fat to digest, or for some people who are older, they no longer have the enzymes that digest fat.

Poo is supposed to float. And the colour being green just indicates you're eating a good level of vegetables as these are the same issues which happened to my son.

How's your son atm?

He's fine. Fit & healthy. Those things happened when he became vegan. The GP told him it was the vegetables that did that to his poo and could do it again. He also said the poo of humans should always float. My son was so relieved, as I was 😍

Iron supplements can make your poo darkerNatural fibre will help with roughage like bran and wholemeal foods

Water containing fruits and veg

Avoid anything that makes you uncomfortable

Keep a food and drink journal to record how you feel after each meal

There may be a pattern

Then you can adjust it to make sure you have good days
