Hi Amber, I've never heard of this condition before. Did they say what the symptoms are and what can cause this? I will have to look it up but please tell me what you know.🤔

I was diagnosed with gastroparesis this year, although I've had symptoms for a very long time. I am in the U.S.

I follow a gastroparesis diet prescribed by my dietitian, or low residue diet (Google it for more info and a sample diet) and it really helps.

It's basically 225-250 calorie small meals, 4 -5 times a day, about 2 hours apart, stopping around 4-5 pm.

Low fat, low to no dairy, low fiber, chicken or fish, well cooked vegetables, no fruit except bananas or canned pears, peaches or apples, limited carbonated beverages, low caffeine, water & most juices without pulp are ok, low to no alcohol.

It's basically foods that are very easy to digest, or don't have carbonation to make you feel fuller since digestion is so slow.

Hope this helps, wishing you wellness 🌻

gastroenteritis I think is the correct spelling of the condition you have mentioned. It's something to do with the infection of the stomach.🤔

No, it's slow emptying of the stomach

Oh I read that it forms a kind of infection due to the slow function in emptying of the stomach. There's that amount of information on different websites.

Gastroenteritis is different to gastroparesis.

Gastroenteris is an infection and will cause violent and frequent diarrhoea.

Gastroparesis

Gastroparesis is a long-term (chronic) condition where the stomach cannot empty in the normal way. Food passes through the stomach slower than usual.

It's thought to be the result of a problem with the nerves and muscles that control how the stomach empties.

If these nerves are damaged, the muscles of your stomach may not work properly and the movement of food can slow down.

Symptoms of gastroparesis may include:

feeling full very quickly when eating

feeling sick (nausea) and vomiting

loss of appetite

weight loss

bloating

tummy (abdominal) pain or discomfort

heartburn

These symptoms can be mild or severe and tend to come and go.

Hello thank you so much yes I’ve got to have a gastric emptying scan in December to see if it is that. I’ve got severe symptoms every day for nearly 2 years really need to get to the bottom of it . Thank you Amber

I hope all goes well and you can get the treatment and any relief it brings. Two years is a long time but so is waiting until December. I know its only two months away or so but that in my opinion is a long time when dealing with strong pain and also worry. Try contacting you consultant or doctor and their departments to see if you can be put on their cancellation list so that if someone cancels they can call you. You might be able to get your scan much quicker if they agree.

I really do wish you the best of luck and hope very soon you will get some relief and who knows maybe even a cure. Never say never. x
