I moved to Canada 2 years ago and have had almost constant stomach problems. since. I know it's not the food, the food here is delicious and the Canadians do not tolerate hormones in their meat etc. and the selection of fruit and veg is outstanding. We cook from scratch even make all my own bread, because I find I cannot tolerate this quick risen bread they make in factories, and very healthy so I knew it wasn't that. I have experienced terrible vomiting, terrible pain, bloating, and weight gain despite eating little meals and bringing a lot of those up in the china, finally I took Buscopan and the relief this week has changed my life. I think this site is a wonderful idea and I have already noticed so many tips, I am going to change my medications, thank you all for making this such a genuine and pleasant place to be.

Aparentelly moving to a completely different place must be the cause. My IBS started after I moved to UK. Not only that but my hiatus hernia and acid reflux got much worse. I also mostly eat home made food. The changes, the climate, the food, even the vegetables are different. I mean, the same vegetable can be slightly different...

I could eat beans and chickpeas with absolutely no worries back in my country, but once I moved to UK could not tolerate them at all.

Our brains and guts work together in a very intricate way...

Even my cats I brought with me, I was feeding them exactly the same food brand and line, same flavour, but they had bloody diarrhoea for a while and vets said it's because of food changes, even though was the same brand and line, but it would eventually have some different ingredients.

Hello,

This is exactly how I feel. Once I moved to the UK, I think I have developed/may have IBS (test are ongoing at snail's pace). Also like you, I actually feel I have started eating more healthy here but seem to be having issues I never had before.

I cant understand how different vegetables/meat etc have such a different impact especially if they are supposedly under more stringent QC. Nevertheless, I hope things get better as this is pretty taxing.

If you do find any solutions/remedies that help, please share, thank you.

At the moment jiggling with Buscopan, they help more than I can say, but they cause constipation, so it is like 1 Buscopan + 2 Sennecot. Be aware I need to get Fybogel. Sennecot is not a long term answer and I always found the Sennocot in the UK to be harsh. I read on another site about the virtues of a natural pill called Ashwagandha so got some and my daughter has noted I am more relaxed, but as of yet cannot rely on this solely for the IBS symptoms.

You may find the problem is caused by fluoridated water, which is not the case in the UK; I had problems with that when I first visited Australia. Also, I had problems in New York because they add iron to cereal products; you might wish to investigate any common additives in Canadian food and water, and see if eliminating those helps your condition.
