I am looking for some advice on probiotics, I suffer from IBS and endometriosis and find my IBS has been much worse lately with much more frequent flares and a lot of bloating. Just wondering what probiotics people use and how effective they have found them? Any advice would be really appreciated xx

Redfan, before focusing on probiotics look into nutrition for both of your health concerns. Deficiencies of magnesium and thiamine are common to both. Anti thiamine factors cause a reduction that seem unlikely in a health diet yet it's important to be on the look out for them. Also, look into forms of thiamine called TTFD, sulbutiamine and benfotiamine as they offer important benefits not found in other forms. Research krill oil for it's anti inflammatory omega 3. Probiotics containing Bifidobacterium infantis, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus plantarum are effective especially for constipation. Saccharomyces boulardii is effective for diarrhea. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplement.
Hi. Over the years I’ve tried many probiotics and the one which helps me is Everyday Max from Probiotics. It’s trial and error I’m afraid what suits one person doesn’t do anything for someone else.Take care.
I would definitely recommend Alflorex as it worked for me. It’s easy to obtain (Boots sell it) it’s not as expensive as some, it’s easy to take and it has hospital backing
Thank you for your message! I will have a look for that then, the most I have seen so far have been very pricey (which I wouldn't mind if I knew they would make a difference). Thanks again!
Hi 👋Well I had a laparoscopy about 10 months ago, since then in general things have got worse.. ibs and endo. I have had more ultrasounds and appts with my gynaecologists but I am currently just treating it with pain relief and a tens machine. I had a CT scan weeks ago which I think should have covered my bowel but the results aren't back yet and I have been chasing for weeks... would this show on a CT? Thank you for your message, that actually makes a lot of sense xx
What has your gynaey said? Adhesions are apparently hard to detect and are ususally found during laproscopy. My cousin suffered most of her teenage and early adult life with endo, it took years before they found the adhesions, she finally had lasre treatment in her 30s to clear them from her bowel and other parts. She has had a marina coil since which helps keep the endo at bay. She also had two children since her treatment. Keep pushing for answers x
Well they said they wouldn't necessarily recommend another laparoscopy this quickly as it would create more scarring etc plus I'm 34 with no kids yet and currently trying so it is difficult to decide what is best 😔 I have wondered about adhesions etc before though so your advice has been helpful, thank you x
They were a game changer for me but I had to combine it with goat kefir, digestive enzymes and a few other supplements. Without them my bloating lasts longer and the transit of my digestive system slows down.
Hi 👋 I'm still fairly new to probiotics but 6 weeks should be long enough to see a difference from what I know. I have been on alfrorex for about 5-6 weeks now and it is helping me (someone on here recommended it to me), definitely less bloating and less flare ups for me so far as well. You could try that and see if it helps, from what I see with some people it can take a few tries with different things. I also make sure I take apple cider vinegar as well, but I don't take them at the same time
It might be something like fybogel that they're recommending... I think it's good for some people but my doctor said it can also react with some people's stomachs if you're more prone to diarrhoea etc, it might be worth trying and seeing how you react perhaps x
