Vit D3, most of us in the UK don't get enough and would feel better supplementing over winter. Could be a good idea to get your levels checked. Also b12 & folate.
There’s an infinite combination of supplements and they’ll affect everyone in different ways. For C I would caution against vitamin D as it can cause constipation for some. Pro biotics really help me but if found the difference between brands makes a huge difference. I used a premium brand and they didn’t work at all for me. Switched to a cheaper brand and they did the trick. Aloe Vera juice seems to help as well.
To answer your question, it’s a case of trial and error unfortunately. Best of luck.
I take Alflorex (probiotic) and it's been great - particularly with tiredness & brain fog that continued even after I removed dietary triggers.
I often take peppermint oil capsules if I'm bloated or have that 'over-indulged' feeling after a dinner and feel they help too.
Hi. I take. vit b complex plus vit d & magnesium in the morning. I also take a multi digestive enzyme from Holland & Barrett, which works amazingly, with lunch & dinner. If I do feel bloated/IBS I take Senocalm which works better for me than Buscopan. I avoid most dairy & caffeine - hope this helps. 👍
The omly medication that helps me is Mebeverine, as for supplements I am trying an organic Spirulina and Chlorella - good for detox and reducing inflammation, other than that I take Buffered Vitamin C when feeling stressed and Zinc with Copper and Flaxseed oil when ever I feel the need
Ocean_2218, unraveling a puzzle like IBS is not a one answer solution. My son's began years ago and years after using an acne medication called isotretinoin also known as Accutane. He is still being treated for ulcerative colitis. The first two links are intended to raise your awareness of anti thiamine factors that may also contribute to IBS symptoms from a thiamine deficiency. Thiamine requires enzymes from magnesium to become bioactive and diarrhea can cause a loss of magnesium creating a possible deficiency. The last, although about SIBO, has a good graphic of the vagus nerve connecting the brain to the gut and has info also applicable to IBS. You can search on " thiamine IBS" for additional sources. Three forms of thiamine, benfotiamine, TTFD and sulbutiamine, are important to study as they offer benefits to take advantage of. Remember the B vitamins work better together. Take time to find out about the other B vitamins. Florastor is a good probiotic for diarrhea. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplement.
