Covid/gut any link?

Hi fellow sufferers. Has anyone had a change in toilet habits following the covid jab??

I have had IBS for 5 years and usually suffer from constipation but the day after my first jab have had really bad diarrhoea which has been ongoing for over 4 months

Interested to hear about your experiences

I've had both doses and haven't had any changes to my ibs symptoms.I guess we're all different and have different reactions to medications and vaccines.

Yes it made my diarrhoea a lot worse but it’s better than getting covid I guess

That's sounds awful, haven't heard anyone else say that. Do you have the Zoe app? They been amalgamating reactions

Which jab did you get? My friend had the AZ one and had a bad tummy for a week or so after but it's settled now.

I posted this today and then saw your post.I had awful ibs the day after my first jab - must have gone about 12 times but not diarrhoea. The first horrendous cramps and diarrhoea came about 6 weeks after my first Az dose and was so extreme I thought it was food poisoning except after two hours it stopped. I was honestly nearly collapsing . I could barely walk. I had my second jab mid may and the second episode happened last Friday night. I’m used to various iterations of ibs, having had it for decades but this is something else! There’s no correlation to the jabs time wise but just the fact I’ve never had this before did make me wonder. And then I dismissed the thought because I imagine there’s lots of coincidental symptoms which can never be proved one way or another. But funny you should mention it

I have not had the shots. I had Covid last November. Since then, diarrhea has been chronic and at times explosive. I won't go into details. I also have lupus, but I feel the chronic diarrhea is from Covid. I still have not regained my sense of taste and have trouble with sinus drainage. That is why I have not gotten the shots and my doctors are not sure what is the right thing to do either. I feel that as long as I had lingering symptoms, I may have antibodies and frankly, am afraid what could happen with the vaccine. I did not go out and my husband got Covid and brought it to me. He recovered in the 2 weeks like many people and did not get as sick as I did. All I know is that everyone is different with Covid and the vaccines. And, yes, I do think that the shots like the virus can exasperate conditions we already have.
