covid : tested positive on wednesday for covid... - IBS Network
covid
Think that as we are all different Covid effects us differently too. When I had Covid my IBS d was quiet but when I was better, about 5 weeks later, it returned😢
I started with IBS in early Spring 2020, early March. It was on and off for a month (normal sometimes which is my usual pattern) On April 2nd I started with Covid. When I had Covid, like Linley says, my IBS was fine. I seemed to have no gut problems, but chest, heart, fever, exhaustion and weakness symptoms instead. I also lost so much weight in only a few days.
For weeks after recovering, my gut and the way I felt generally were much better than before. No sign of IBS. I even thought catching Covid had cured it!
But in July 2020 the IBS came back, and has not really gone away since.
I’ve just had 10 days of Covid and at last negative but left with a cough I can’t seem to get rid of. Started with a cough but although a IBS sufferer I didn’t have any diarrhoea.
Hi I have IBS D and tested positive for Covid on 21st June 2022.I had all the usual symptoms headache, temperature, sore throat, cough with phlegm, aching body, on day 2 I dizzy spell and felt very faint then I vomited. Later in the day the diarrhoea started and it was some of the worst I’d experienced “like a tap” and feeling nauseous. After a week I contacted my GP he thought it sounded like gastroenteritis which is also a virus and as Covid is a virus it could possibly be the cause. I did take loperamide a couple of times but that seemed to make the cramps worse. GP said it’s a difficult choice as taking Loperamide is ok but I may wish to choose to let it flush out of my system. He did give me anti sickness tablets, but in the end after taking for one day I didn’t use again. I did keep taking dioralyte to help with hydration, if you can get hold of it! I eat very bland simple foods when I could. Took me 12 days to text negative, just the day before that my diarrhoea started to improve. Probably took 2 weeks for me to feel more like my normal self. The typical Covid symptoms improved after 4 days, it was the nausea and diarrhoea that hung on making me feel awful. I do think Covid hits your weakest spots!
Hope it doesn’t last that long for you and you feel better soon.
I had covid in September and I had vomiting and diarrhea with it, I have ibs also.
I heard that gastric covid does not show on a home test kit?? I had diarrhoea for two days. Immodium has stopped it for now, but still cramps and knocked out. Can't stand for more than a couple of mins, but not usual covid symptoms. Just when I think it's improving it comes back. Only eating about half my usual diet. By the way, if you can't get hold of dyoralyte a Doc told me any fizzy drink will help. With diarrhoea you loose a lot of zinc which is found in fizzy drinks and could give you a little energy too. Lucozade is a good one.
I had covid in March and some of the first symptoms were vomiting and diarrhoea for about 5 days. To be honest 4 months on my stomach still isn’t back to normal. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
I had Covid November 2020. Along with the other symptoms, the diarrhea, nausea and sinus drainage were horrible. I already have had problems with intestinal issues and have systemic lupus and other issues. Now after all this time, I still can't taste, have almost daily diarrhea and sinus drainage. I recently saw an immunologist referred by my primary doctor. I am trying protocol for Mast Cell Activation which is linked to Covid. At first, I seemed to respond, but then something happened and am struggling again which has left me so disappointed. I have a call in to the immunologist and not feeling very hopeful. I know that responding to the antihistamine treatment is crucial to diagnosing for Mast Cell MCAS . I do agree with what Squash56 said about Covid hitting your weakest spots. At this point, I am extremely apprehensive about leaving the house as attacks come upon so quickly. I so hope you continue to get better.
Healing hugs.
Pumpkin, if you have suspected MCAS, I wonder if the low histamine diet might help? Check out all the high histamine foods basically and quit them for a while.
I hope this passes soon for you, emmerdale 2021. I did have some lingering symptoms after Covid, but different ones to yours, mostly heart palpitations and shortness of breath when walking upstairs or up hills. But those did go away in a little while. I needed more real rest. Rest, and that might help.
Kind wishes.
Yes. My very first symptom was awful diarrhoea. I then tested positive for 12 days with diarrhoea every day. Have been negative now for several days and still have it. Vomiting and/or diarrhoea seem to be much more prevalent symptoms of this variant.
