Anal fissure in pregnancy

Hi all, I’ve got a chronic anal fissure and it’s so painful. The doctor has prescribed me rectogesic ointment but I’m so anxious to take it as I’m 5 weeks pregnancy, and very precious IVF pregnancy. Has anyone else been in this situation or have any wise words. I’m doing sitz baths, talking fybogel and doing ice packs too, but it’s still so painful after 4 weeks and have had to take this week off work due to the pain.

I know I have to balance up risk/benefit.

I would be really grateful of any wise words.

Check with your obstetrician. If it is applied basically externally, I would think it should be OK, however Double check with the OB

Hiya. I hope youre feeling better. I was so nervous about starting fybogel treatment. But through trial and challenge ive found it hwlps me. One sachet every 2nd day, and jasmine rice alternate days. Life has improved so much. I wish you luck😁

Fybogel worked brilliantly for my IBS, and I also had a chronic fissure at the time. The fissure does take time to heal, but check out youtube for some home remedies, and a few of them do work. The garlic and steam helped me, as did the coconut oil and beeswax treatment. Basically you melt some beeswax pellets (very cheap from amazon), and then you mix it with a little coconut oil, and as it's starting to set again, apply it to the fissure for some much needed relief from the pain. It should also compliment the ointment your doctor gave you as it's a natural remedy.
