Hello

Just wondering about people's experiences of IBS during pregnancy and what worked for you. Were you able to take any medications etc?

Thanks

I have four children and my ibs disappeared during all pregnancies. I felt fine all 9 months apart from the niggles of being pregnant. Good luck x

I had no ibs symptoms at all during my pregnancy, still don't know why but everyone is different.

Hi what sort of IBS is it - if its constipation I dont think you are allowed because I was told it brings on premature labour; better to get some walking exercise.

But if its the runs then see GP-ALLWAYS see GP first

Best wishes

My IBS was much better/subsided during 2 pregnancies and throughout breastfeeding. During third, I did suffer with my IBS but was more anxious during this period so think that was why. I don't think I was able to take anything :( Hopefully will be a break for you.

Hi Nicki,

I personally was pretty awful for both pregnancies: particularly bloated with nausea and vomiting. I did not find anything I could take to relieve this.

But don't let this put you off. I would do it all again. I had 2 lovely babies.

You have your children for years. It's worth feeling bad for a few months - and it's quickly forgotten.

Thanks Alison. Am considering trying for a 2nd child but this time round have IBS and anxiety to deal with. But your right being a mum in the long run is worth a few months of symptoms. Will have to see when the time comes 😎 x

I don't know if this is the case for you, bu I actually had a lot of anxiety after my first, especially linked to being a good mother while I felt so fatigued with IBS. I felt much better with my second child. The first one had survived, so I decided I was doing OK and was less stressed.😎

Yes my anxiety started with my first as was such a shock to the system then my mum died when my daughter was 8 months old so double whammy. Am having counselling now though and trying to get to a good place before I decide to try for baby number 2. Don't think I will have the same worries about having the baby once it's here, think it's more the IBS I'm concerned about x thanks for your reply x
