Hi TrickTree,

I have been told I have this but I'm waiting for a hospital appointment to confirm or deny. My symptoms are pains down the left side if my navel going down to my middle bowel. I then struggle to keep food in my body that I've never had issues with especially fruit and vegetables. I have explosive diarrhea then bouts of extremely painful constipation. I have bouts of gas, bloating and stomach pains too.

Not sure if this is the same symptoms that you have but the pain clinic says I have Diverticulitis and to expect having to use a Colostomy bag. So not happy at all.

All the best for the future 😍

Hi EvonneThanks for the reply really appreciate it.

I’ve suffered with IBS for 20 years now had all the tests!!!!

This last y18 months suffered with terrible pain down left lower on and off but always IBS

New GP this week and didn’t just read my notes

Full examination and told Diverticulitis I’ve had terrible explosive diarrhoea 1hour after food but full of acid.

On antibiotics but not sure if these make me worse 🙈

Thanks again for reply x

Are you taking probiotics too .? It’s probably the antibiotics ..

Hi tricktree, I’ve had diverticula disease for over 10 years. The pain and occasional explosive diarrhoea are an ongoing feature in my life but, over the years, I have learned how to keep it at manageable levels by watching what I eat and having small meals frequently.

I also take probiotics every day and find these help.

It never goes away and, if I’m lax with my diet (I’m only human!) it rears its head with a vengeance and takes days to settle back down but, on the whole, if you find your triggers, it’s manageable.

Best wishes and take care.

Hi, well I got diagnosed twenty years back after awful blockage twice........but then never got a whiff of it fir many many years, so just because you have been diagnosed doesn’t mean u are goung to be stuck with it. My brother and mum were the same diagnosed after nasty bout but then we’re fine fir many years.....Watch what you eat.....red meat stays in tummy ages....peanuts....don’t get blocked up....I avoid red meat, burgers, stodgy apart from that I eat normally....never get constipated is my moto but of course I have done.....I had another blockage from diverticulitis last year my own fault, stodgey food....but in balance that was fifteen years after the last bout, so not bad...

It’s severe I’ve been told after a recent colonoscopy, but I manage it by not getting constipsted .........what I’d say is don’t panic, don’t overthink this.....it’s just a label, see how it goes, it’s an ageing of our intestines but like the Mississippi River with big hairpin bends and food get stuck in these tight bends.....see how it goes, dont fret there’s a lot of folk get this diagnosis ,

I was diagnosed with it in 2015 after scans following admission in the winter with community acquired phnomonia. It's difficult to seperate symptoms from IBS and DVas they share common complaints. Funny, I'm not so bad since giving up 90% of anything greasy, bacon, sausages, junk food. I had rwo small burgers in rolls with lettuce 8 weeks ago, and ended up in A andE at 5.30am next morning with blood in my stools. I stayed for 48 hours, bloods were fine, primary discharge letter just said Diverticulitis. As you get older DV can be a problem, I'm 70, but first time it actually caused an admission. Alverine citrate can sometimes help. But only available on prescription in the UK good luck😁

My dad had this.operation helped on nhs.Recall they stretch the colon n clear any polyps.

Find a good homeopath and get Sepia as the remedy . Do relaxation visualization and keep meals small and nutritious .
