Hi guys, hope you're well. Im 30yrs old suffer really badly with IBS C. I gave recently (for 2 weeks) become a tad bit reliant on dulcolax as I find the entire or of going to the bathroom quite exhausting! I've heard lots about lazy bowels after fair use of laxatives - I wax wondering if anyone now suffers with this?

I have IBS-C and the best thing that’s worked for me is Laxido (same as Movicol). Senna was so terrible I thought I was going to pass out on the toilet! The pains were terrible. If you already have slow motility like mine, then I wouldn’t worry too much about becoming reliant on laxatives. IBS is a functional disorder and needs treated with meds like any other illness. I take a sachet a day and find it gentle and reliable, x
AFter once going 11 days without going and ending up doing a water enema I vowed never again - I told my Dr I took senokot after this episode and categorically said never would I put myself through it again and she was happy for me to take senokot every night as it is more natural than a lot of things so I take it every night - like the other person said it is a condition and if you have to take something to sort it well so be it - you wouldn't not let a heart patient stop drugs if they relied on them - well we are the same - the pain and time involved and still not having a bowel movement if I don't take them - is just not a consideration - I may rely on them but at least I have quality of life - without them I don't
Hi janetmtt, I've had complaints about some people not being happy about me posting the same tips when they've seen them before. This is why I pm people now if they specifically ask. I will happily pm them to you.
Hi i used laxido but i now take 2.5 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds a day and found it really helpls on the odd occasion i will take laxido for a few days but only one sachet.
The same happened to me i thought i had it worked out my ibs c by taking laxatives every day and my bowels became so bunged up to the point the laxatives wouldnt work it for awful, i take obifibre now which is definitely helping and also laxido which dosnt seem as bad as them other harsh laxatives. I try to avoid gluten as much as possible and definitely dairy its hard going but you have to try everything when your in pain, hope you find something.
