does anyone else use adult nappies?

I suffer from IBS-D combined with a probably muscle weakness which means I am at risk of messing myself. Most of the time I can control it, but I get flares ups particularly if I am ill, tired or stressed. Then i usually use Tena pants which give me enough security. My worst problem is firs thing in the morning where I mess myself if I don't get up quick enough. When it is bad, i often do it besides the bed or on the way to the bathroom. I am used to coping with that,

However, over the last coupe of years I have had more nighttime accidents. The Tena pants are no good for that. They are meant for urinary incontinence and leak faecal matter if you are not careful, ie like when I am asleep and move about. So I have been using adult nappies. They are pretty bulky but do the job.

Does anyone else use them? If so, how do you find them to use, any tips and what brands do you use? How often do you use them.

I have exactly the same problems as you have. First thing in the morning a rush to the toilet and as you put it weak muscles. That's the anal sphincter muscles or in layman terms the ones that seal the bottom. I have used toilet paper for years as a method of boosting confidence but of late that is proving to be less efficient as it used to be. The feeling of wanting to pass wind is a warning to go to the toilet and I find getting up from sitting down can sometimes lead to an accident. I suffer with haemorrhoids so its the perfect storm at times. I some times find leakage when I go to check myself out. All in all a damned inconvenience.

Sounds like we have the same issues. I have to be careful breaking wind as it is sometimes wet and smelly. And just getting out of bed can trigger a motion. It’s why I wear pull ups or nappies. I often mess myself crouching next to the bed.

Please speak to your doctor about this. You shouldnt have to endure a problem like this. There are procedures that can alleviate it. You can get help with special adult nappies too. Can I ask, do you know if you are dairy, yeast or gluton intolerant?

No I don’t seem to be. Other than stress I’ve struggled to find triggers

I'm just the same. Been an Ibs sufferer for nearly 30 years. I'm still ok with Tennis at the moment. I have no feeling when passing a motion. No idea if I've finished...only if it's still leaking when I try to get off the loo. Nothing and nobody helps. Even with purchasing if nappies. We've to buy them ourselves. I cannot be complacent even thinking about passing wind. No way could I do that without wearing a happy. What a life eh?

Have you tried eliminating wheat from your diet, and going gluten free. For me gluten is just the worst thing for causing issues like this. I usually don't touch gluten but occasionally have a binge, and these symptoms you describe, having to rush to the loo are always the result.
