hi, when doing a search with "rifaximin" in the IBS Network you'll find the following results:

healthunlocked.com/tag/rifa...

I'm taking rifaximin since 14 days, 550 mg twice a day. First day a bit more discomfort in my intestines and the second day I felt/heard more movement/gas. Two days ago I experienced an increase in fatigue and it also felt as if my tinnitus increased but it has settled now. All in all no serious side effects and still 14 days to go till my course with rifaximin is finished.

I was taking it for SIBO. I had a lot of ill effects from SIBO, but I did not notice any side effects specifically from Rifaximin. It did seem to work. Immediately after finishing the antibiotics, my gastroenterologist sent me to a medical dietician who put me on a very strict FODMAP diet. Between the antibiotics and the diet I am mostly better and the whole range of bodily symptoms I had have mostly gone. I am still very careful with my diet, though.

Yes. My stomach never felt really good. I was very very tired, going to bed at 8:30 and many days also taking a nap in the afternoon. I had a very low grade fever. It was not measurable on a thermometer, but I could feel it in my body. Also, I developed a reddish, slightly swollen area on my cheeks. Also, BMs were very "sticky." I took Rifaximinfor 2 weeks, but it took about 2 months before I felt normal. I did see a medical dietician recommended by my doctor and she was very helpful.

I would be very interested in what your symptoms are, if you don't mind.

Hi. I am also on day 4 of taking 550mg of rifaximin for 7 days from a private gastro doc. I had trouble getting it as its very expensive but did get it in uk from a pharmacy. I have had ibs all my life more diarrhea and terrible gas. A year ago it got worse and suffered wet flatulance every 7 days for a day or matter of hours. 90% gas and some poop or liquid. No blood. Not had colonoscopy. Havent lost weight. Could not get anywhere with local gp. Had bloods. FIT stool tests and all came back clear. I have suffered very bad ribbon stools for years also. Well on day 4 and my symptoms have started again so im pretty upset and feel disappointed but not finished the 7 day course yet. Not sure where to turn now for help. But i do feel side effects from rifaximin are more gas for sure and tiredness.
