Can't see any reason why you can't exercise? I have had both and found that taking a course of enterosgel got rid of the GERD symptoms as well as helping with the ibs
I avoid tomatoes onions garlic citrus fruit wheat gluten fried and spicy food and all dairy products. This helps mostly but I still have the acid reflux a little. I find all my gym activities do shake up my body so often feel nauseous after a session but try not to have head too low or bend down. Jumping a rope would be a problem for me. I like to spin. I have raised the head of the bed with a pillow wedge under the mattress and that helps. It’s all trial and error as to what works for you in particular as everyone is different. Good luck finding yours.
It's very difficult to eat healthily with IBS as the low Fodmap diet excludes most veggies. I can't eat fruit and was adviced not to. So, it you can't eat all the good things then avoid all the bad things like fried foods, alcohol, chocolates, sweets, cakes, biscuits(cookies) buns and fizzy drinks. A lot of IBS is caused by intolerances the biggest being dairy also, yeast and in some people wheat. I have found that GERDS symptoms greatly reduce if you don't eat fried or fatty foods or any foods with a high fat content, no spicy foods. Curry is definitely out! But then curry has dairy in it too. I would be writhing in agony with stomach pain if I so much as licked a spoonful of curry! No fizzy drinks of any kind either. I was put on Omeprazole for acid but it caused agonising stomach cramps and led me to lose my sense of taste. All of these medications do the same.
