I had a procedure in January for removal of a kidney stone and was advised by my Surgeon to take Potassium Citrate . This was found to help prevent recurring stones forming . Interestingly , this medication , which has a major common side effect of stomach issues and diarrhoea has had a reverse effect with me.
Now two months later my IBS of fifty years is so much better . Reluctant to say it has cured me but so far it pretty much has . I now get normal BMs one or twice a day and although some increase in gas no more D, which has been a regular symptom since age 21 over fifty years ago.
I wonder if anyone else out there, with perhaps some medical knowledge, or has had any experience of this medication has any thoughts on this .
I have found nothing on line which explains anything of this , although Potassium it seems has some effect on muscles . I am wondering if it has slowed my digestive muscles down .
