I'm back with another update, unfortunately it isn't good news.
I received a phone call on Tuesday from my GP who confirmed that my stool sample had tested positive for C-diff. I went to see my GP that afternoon and they had a poke and prod of my stomach which was, and still is, extremely painful and decided to start Metronidazole 400mg 3 times daily.
I narrowly missed going into hospital on Tuesday because some of the vitals they took, whether that was my blood pressure or something else, came back a bit wonky. If I get worse I have to call the GP who would want to get the opinion of surgeons.
The stomach pain has calmed down and only begins to really hurt before and during a BM. In saying that I haven't had diarrhea for a few days, just one/two solid BMs. If I push the bowels to move I end up getting spotted blood on the toilet paper from the haemorroid so I've stopped really focusing on BMs. As long as I go once a day, I'm satisfied.
Aside from that I am overheating constantly with very minimal physical activity - I'm exhausted going to get my medication from the pharmacy and whatever shirt I'm wearing is damp with sweat. I feel gross waking up in the morning because I've sweat so much at night and it's really not an enjoyable experience.
I can do some of my hobbies but tire very quickly and mentally my brain clocks out after 2 hours. I am extremely tired and drowsy when I do wake up so I just have to wake up slowly and let my brain take its time to reconfigure itself.
While trying to get comfortable in bed I must have stretched funny because I've hurt my lower back. It felt more like something ripping as opposed to the normal feeling of pulling a muscle but it's calmed down a bit after 2 days so I'm not massively worried about that.
I'm off work for a week and I'm having a blood test next Tuesday to see how that's going. I don't really feel hungry but I've been having lots of small plain food like bananas/toast/white rice. I'm also making sure I drink enough water (in the past few days I've completely gone off herbal teas so I'm sticking to water and dioralyte).
Plan of action is to take it easy and rest. I knew from the beginning of this whole thing starting that it wasn't a normal IBS flare. So I've had 2 weeks of having untreated C-diff hanging around.
Work have been informed, I told them to clean everything behind the tills because C-diff is a stubborn bugger that lives on surfaces for 5 months and I did a few shifts before I was told I had tested positive for C-diff.
Apologies for not updating sooner. I don't think words exist to define this level of exhausted. Here's hoping that things start looking up soon.
