Lansoprazole 30mg: Hi just found this site, I... - IBS Network
Lansoprazole 30mg
Hi I was diagnosed with a hernia a few years back now and have been taking omeprazole with no issues since. Maybe give your gp a call if it doesn't settle soon sorry can't be anymore help
In my opinion these drugs (proton pump inhibitors) are awful and not good for you at all. Caused me to lose my sense of taste and gave me the most awful stomach cramps. Not good for your arteries either. Doctors prescribe them because at present there aren't any alternatives. I'd stick with mild over the counter remedies and see how you go.
Doctors tend to try you on the cheapest medications first to see how you get on with them. The only PPI I could tolerate was Nexium (esomeprazole) which is more expensive than the other PPIs which is why they don't give it to you first. If you are having intolerable side effects, you can go back to your doctor and ask for something else. I can't remember the name of the first one I tried but it made me dizzy and I had to stay off work for 2 weeks, when I should have said that I wasn't getting on with it.
I've also been diagnosed with hiatus hernia. I've been taking ppi medication for about 20 years and it worries me. I'm on lanzaprazole and it's also making me feel worse its really affecting my life. I'm bad enough on 15mg but doc wants me to take 30mg which makes me feel sick. I think I'll have to have an endoscopy soon just to see what's going on. I've higher my bed which helps a bit but I've developed a reflux cough and sore throat now. Does anyone else feel very lethargic because I do when it's at its worst? Dont know if I should go back to omeprazole!!
