Hi All new on here . I’m so low today . I’ve diverticulitis diagnosed 3 yrs ago . Hospitalised twice & only 2 flare ups since which have come in the last 8 weeks . I also have Ibs d .Tbh my tum is often gurgling etc even though I eat as well as I can . I’ve just had some bloods done to check for infection. I’m guessing there is as I’ve a routine telecom call next weds to speak to a gp to discuss . This doesn’t help me as I live alone & have health anxiety as it is ! Guess I’m looking for some reassurance or anyone who has similar going on & would be happy to reply . Thank you for reading .

Hi K1410, Sorry to learn how low you're feeling. I know where you're coming from as I live alone with a Health Anxiety. This lockdown doesn't help either does it? As far as I know I don't have diverticulitis, but my friend does ever since she made a fabulous recovery from bowel cancer. I don't know your age but she told me that most "seniors"have one of these but it's only when they flare up that you get to know about it. I do have Ibs and over lockdown have suffered more flare ups than ever before. I can easily get low and cry easily but then if I can distract myself then it's ok and it passes. Coming on here either to post or just read makes me feel normal, if that makes sense? I do hope you begin to feel more positive and feel better soon.x

I tried vitamin and mineral supplements and that made things worse by a much. Cacao nibs and fiber have helped me. Large amounts of meat, specially hard meat, makes things worse. Fish in general is the best kind of meat, as long as it is not all spiced up, or has lemon or vinegar in it. Stay away from jalapeños and peppers. I've tried yogurt and probiotics but they have unpredictable effects. Sometimes they help, sometimes they don't. I don't know why they are not consistent. I wouldn't waste money on expensive probiotics. I have spent hundreds with no consistent results. I even tried unpasteurized milk, which did not help at all.

I am on my third flare of diverticulitis. I am also feeling down and out about it. I eat well, take probiotics and a fiber supplement. Also eat lots of veggies to help. I exercise most days of the week too. I don’t know what works at this point as apparently none of that is that great at keeping it away. How are you doing now?
