Hi Shaun, I take mebeverine 3 times a day, it’s an antispasmodic, so help with the stomach cramping and pain, haven’t had any side effects from it, but every one different. I hope it works well for you. How did you phone consultation go?? Did they offer you any tests. Anyways good luck hope they work well for you xx

Hi Linda, took my first one about half an hour ago and just had something to eat so we will see lol. My consultation went well, I told my GP my symptoms, it is IBS and he prescribed me mebeverine and loperamide. Have to have a blood test on the 25th because he said he wants to see if I have coeliac disease. Will get the results on the 2nd December so I will await my doom lol

How are you sweetie ?

Hi Shaun, well let’s hope they give you some relief from the joys ibs has to offer, I’m ok thank you for asking, just cruising along one day good 2 days shit, you know how it goes by now. It’s good he’s offered you a blood test, he sounds to be an ok doctor which is what you need nowadays. Well let’s hope things pick up now you’ve got some meds. Stay in touch sweet and let us know how you get on with the tablets, night night Shaun

Take care xx

Morning shaunine. I’ve been thinking about you. You might be losing vital nutrients especially potassium if you keep having diarrhoea. I hope you are taking good supplements and if you are I hope you are taking them just before bedtime. Our intestines like to close down and take it easy during the night ergo slower digestion. I always eat as late as possible. The exact opposite of what the medics tell us. It works for me. Forgive me if I’m teaching grandma to suck eggs but someone else reading might benefit too. Take great care. Con amore Bx

I’ve been taking the colofac MR (200mg) twice a day but I think it might be giving me constipation. I also think it’s made me less hungry lately and a fast heart rate! Well those 3 things I am now suffering with so I wondered if it was the colofac! So tonight I’m trying the 135mg. I’ve been really struggling with my tummy, constant episodes of sickness and diarrhoea since September! - is anyone else getting this? I’ve been following a low fodmap diet but still having probs! Hi, I’m also on Mebeverine, Ibs does what it wants and I’m feeling it’s not helping. I take it 3x a day also. Still get the cramps. Doc asked me to try a gluten free diet. (Didn’t work) Had this for years & years and didn’t even know about the blood test. I need to make another appointment with her.

Whilst I have found it effective, it's coated with lactose which I have an intolerance to so creates it's own problems. Seems a bit stupid to give a drug coated in lactose to a person with IBS but there were are!

when you have ibs -it gets a bit graphic so dont worry ! yes ok poo,i find that gluten free helps alot .dried fruit is the worst thing -and green veg ,but ibs is very strange in that emotional state can play a big part in it ,so it a 'management' thing .ive tried everything over the years ,menopause was dreadful [ovs not for you ! ] but you will find a way of dealing with it .good luck .

I only started the mebeverine yesterday afternoon no stomach cramps whatsoever and even had a decent nights sleep last night without any stomach pains or nausea. I have cut down my cheese intake to a sprinkle as I and my partner feel that that is a big part to play also. Was prescribed mebeverine and loperamide yesterday and have to have a blood test on the 25th as my doctor wants to see if I have coeliac disease .

Always here if you need

Lots of love

I have mebeverine. I take it 20-30 mins before eating and it prevents spasms associated with eating. My IBS, especially in the morning, is triggered by eating as my entire bowel goes into spasm for several hours. I tend to use it when wanting to go out, it adds an additional layer of security.

It’s an antispasmodic. My stomach was going into spasms and really hurting. I was taking it 3 times a day but I’m currently realised if I have a light breakfast I can eat that without needing to take one. At the moment it’s keeping the pain and nausea under control.
