H pylori treatment

Hi all

Last week Thursday have completed the triple therapy 7 day course of 2 antibiotics (Amoxicillin 1g and clarithromycin 500mg) and Pantoprazole 40mg twice a day.

There has not been much improvement in the acidity so far.

I get this feeling that something is stuck in my throat and get tightness in the chest. It comes and goes and gets better temporarily with Rennie or Gaviscon Advance

Just wanted to know from others who may have gone through this treatment:

Did the triple therapy work for you?

how soon did your symptoms resolved post eradication therapy?

Did you have to continue with any PPI for sometime after therapy,?

Thanks. Has your doctor asked you to continue with omeprazole 40mg?

My doctor didn't say anything but I have stepped down to 20mg for 2 week now.

I’m still to continue.

Just had a call from the hospital (Colchester) that I’m booked in for the camera job 3rd December. Bit nervous

I think the endoscopy should be fine. Its not as bad as you think. Just take the spray, close your eyes and let the expert do his job. You will be fine

But You should ideally stop omeprazole 2 weeks before the endoscopy so try to go on 20mg daily for a week and then stop from next week Thursday if you can.

All the best

Thanks tho it’s a worry to think they will find, silly I guess but I’m not good with hospitals. They told me to end it 5 days before but tbh I’ve been in them 40s 8 weeks this weekend and that’s all I’ve got I think I’m just going to end them in a few day’s as I’ve had enough of them

I think it is advisable to gradually reduce the dose otherwise you can get acid rebound affect for a few days or so. May be try having alternative days before stopping

That’s good advice

Thanks

I been having upper stomach pains for a month. The h pylori breath test came back positive,my gp got me started on the 7 days triple treatment and im into the fifth day. Omeprazole clarytromycin and metrodinazole. No much improvement so far. Cant sleep well pain runs you down and getting scare to eat as it brings pain after a period of temporary relief. My symptoms are upper abdomen pain left right and center. Fullness and pressure feeling in stomach. This activate the vagus nerve and makes me anxious wich make me want to rush to ER. Had endoscopy 9 years ago and diagnosed with gastritis and duodenitis cured with triple treatment but has come back. Gastroscopy back then was not bad at all i was fully awake i only got the throat spray. I m schedule for another one within a month but im a nervous wreck just thinking about it despite the first one went well.

I had my endoscopy done last month and I was fully awake and had only throat spray. I was not as bad I had imagined it would be.

It may tske a couple of weeks after the triple therapy treatment for you to see some difference
