Hi I’m new to this world of laxatives I really am finding the whole thing confusing, it is worse that I’m in France and my doc doesn’t speak much English, my French is ok but it’s hard when you are trying to talk health.
I have diverticulitis which I was to,d 25 years back, it hasn’t bothered me much but I’m wondering if it is now. I was constipatedtwo weeks back and forth to pharmacy. Nothing happened, then to doc,was given macrogol after a scan showed blockages, had lots of diahoreah.........but then I went a week not going......doc did bloods and poo sample.....sults normal.....more macrogol more diahoreah..........can anyone tell me is it the case after this macrogol I should let my bowels just get normal again....it doesn’t seem like they are getting normal at all.......what should I eat...fiber? Non fiber! So much varied stuff on internet......I’m back at doc Monday and am feeling as if I’m a pest....ami expecting normality when this may bein fact my new normality
I’d appreciate any advice.

It must be difficult for you if you cannot convey your issues to your Dr and have a good Dr/patient relationship it can leave you to self diagnose which is not a good idea.
I do not have constipation but do have diverticular disease. The rare times I have a flare up I eat bland food +plenty of water for a few days so nothing fibrous irritates the diverticular pockets.
Suggest when back at Dr you ask if Marogol maybe too strong for you? would suppositories be kinder? BTW are you on any other meds that have a side affect of conspitation? The reason I ask is my cousin was on statins and he complained of conspitation regularly. Good luck 🍀
