Gall bladder polyp: I have a gall bladder polyp... - IBS Network
Gall bladder polyp
pain mostly, but hard to tell if it is the polyp or the gallbladder stone, i suspect the latter
How long have you known you had it? Do you know size of it? What gas hospital told you about it???
Just coming up to a year now. I was due another ultrasound scan last month to see if it had grown any, but with the C19 it was of course postponed for the moment.
As to size I believe it is less than 1cm.
No idea what a gas hospital is? I'm in the UK and was hospitalised for 5 days last year with a high pain level. My gallbladder was originally due to be removed but they decided to monitor it instead
Hello. I was diagnosed with IBS some years ago and then it went. Am sure that it was stress related at that time. However when I started to have pain again I assumed that it was IBS again. I'm still taking Buscopan and Merbeverin as prescribed. Don't know if it works or not but daren't stop it. To cut a long story short I developed an horrific pain in my right sided abdomen. The GP was called and prescribed pain relief medication which worked after a while. I had a scan which showed gall stones so the process started. A few weeks later I had the same extreme pain and ended up in hospital. It was so bad that I couldn't even answer the doctors questions. I spent 5 days in hospital on morphine - it puddled my brain especially as they had overdosed me. Coincidently I discovered that a work colleague was a lower gastric surgeon so I continued seeing him. He told me that the tests showed that "this is not straight forward". At the time I did not question or ask what he meant as I trusted him and knew he would look after me. Suggested that I go on a low fat diet but as I have cholesterol problems I was already doing that. I then got referred to a specialist hospital to be told that the gall stones were stuck in a difficult position and that one was big and causing a blockage. The operation could not be done as a day case. I had five days in hospital following the operation to have the gall stones removed as a major artery was close by in December 19. I have made a full recovery but now realise that I must have been quite unwell for a long time without realising it as I feel so much better. I lost 2 stones in weight and intend to keep it off. No IBS problems. A miracle. I must admit that I am not pleased having been diagnosed with IBS and that it was gall stones and I would suggest that everyone with IBS symptoms should have a gall stone investigation.
My surgeon friend told me that he had many patients with gall stones that have decided not to have the operation and control the symptoms with diet and that mostly it is successful however that did not work for me.
Hope this is helpful. Go well and stay safe.
