Hello I have had asthma since I was 30, due to work related stress I developed ibs(d) my asthma is well under control, using your prevention inhaler everyday is very good, and carrying accusing the blue inhaler is your best defence, I think in every coat or day sack plus my sports bag I have the blue inhaler, before any physical activity I use my blue inhaler to open my airway, I love using the cross trainer at the gym to start and finish my workout, for me i would love to start On a running machine but I cannot breath enough for it to be safe.I
I will say my brain says I can do this, the body tells you the truth! Start small and work up.
If I can offer any advice on my medical problems or other issues please do not hesitate to ask, the heart is another muscle so let's use it and let's get the feel good factor that makes us tick.
Regards
Graham
With the asthma and I've I recommend some form of fitness everyday, great theory as you know, practically after severe pain with ibs it goes out the window!
You do not have to go to a gym, fitness can be done at home, 10 mins of getting your heart date (always if safe) is good, I have been lucky to either teach fitness of be involved, but my body no

I too have ibs d. And also suffer from asthma. I also developed ibs d due to work related stress. I use my preventative puff once everyday. It keeps my asthma at bay. But I am able to jog for 25 mins everyday. I use to have difficulty at first to run. But slowly started jogging for few minutes. Then increased my time. After 1 year I have got to 25 mins now. I don’t know if this helps you. Definitely ask your doctor before doing anything.
thank you your reply, I used to love running, marathons, 10k ect, my problems stems from not jumping out planes but the landings! I was advised to stop or I would have a permanent limp to my left leg.
I also played badminton and squash for pleasure and in leagues, although resting heart is 45b p.m, I have either taught or been involved in fitness, loved teaching on assault courses.
I have to start On the cross trainer as it does not require the same breathing capacity as the runner but once my lungs have adapted I can use the running machines, I love to use it in burst of 30/50sec intervals, I was never built for speed but stamina.
Thanks for your reply. Hope you can get on the running machine soon as you enjoy it so much. I actually also use the cross trainer. I have found it to be better in overall fitness then the treadmill. But I also am acquiring a love for running.
Not much chance of going to the gym for a wee while, I have a simple bike and dumbbells at home, try to go for a walk everyday for about 6 miles, but as we all know they are only used to hang clothes on lol dusted them off and started off with 10 min sessions, fitness is so easy to stop but so very hard to start again!
For sure. Fitness is easy to stop. But difficult to start. Good time to start using the home bike for sure. I have a home treadmill fortunately. I also have a cross trainer at home. Along with a skipping rope and s kettle ball. Enough to keep myself healthy.
