Given for acid teflux.

I have been perscribed this for severe acid reflux. My dr. said its like irritable bowel but its reflux. Has anyone else had this percribed for this?

After trying probably every acid reflux meds for at least 12 years I was told I have something like irritable esophagus.

Thats why the dr. has me trying the amitriptyline to calm the esophagus down. Just started it and have sleepness night and leg pain from it. I had constant acid in throat and stomach not feeling good. Nothing taste like it should. I'm at my wits end with this. This is why I'm giving the amitriptyline a try. Reflux meds did not heip. I had all the tests and everything was normal.

Sounds like Amitriptyline is a problem too. My body didn't like it either. I take Lansoprozole for reflux. Works pretty well for me but I suppose everyone is different. Good luck

I have been prescribed the same medication for acid reflux. I take 20mg at night and pantoprazole in the morning. I find it helps me to sleep better which means I don’t get acid reflux at night which used to be a huge problem for me. The doctor also told me that he thought my problem was a too sensitive oesophagus. I think it takes a while for the amitriptyline to kick in but if it upsets you I should go back to your doctor as I think there are other similar drugs. I don’t have a problem with it and it has definitely improved things for me.
