Have been on the lowfodmap diet for 2 weeks. So far still having tummy pains, bouts of diarrhoea and still awfully bloated. As anyone any idea when it should improve symptoms?

Lowfodmap diet
I would give it another two weeks. Have you followed the other bits that go with it, like eating small mouthfuls, and chewing really well before swallowing your food?
Hi it took me 3-4 weeks but benefitting now. I'm still reintroducing and finding I'm sensitive to nearly everything.
Do you have an app to use? My nhs dietician recommended foodmaestro. I couldn't go shopping without mine, and I cook nearly everything from scratch. Are you sure you are following it correctly and consistently? Happy to help
Morning
Yes i am using the Monash app which my dietician suggested. She's also put me on fructan free too. I do all my own cooking and am weighing everything out to the app
Good luck, I think it can take a few weeks for all the 'bad' stuff to leave your system, hope you start to improve soon.
Incidentally are you taking any meds? Check them closely for ingredients like lactose, which is used widely as a bulking agent, and artificial sweeteners too, manitol etc
Ok will do
Do you live in the UK as tests differ. We have a private test which screens out 60 foods in different food groups. It is a smart test with results back in an hour. It is a finger prick test no pain. Since changing diet no more pain bloating or other symptoms.
Hi Birmanblue. I do live in the UK. Can you send me some details please.
Yes. Go to Alphega chain website with an icon postcode locator. Each icon will have a branch linked to Alphega . These have a list of services including allergy. There are over a hundred Alphega linked chemists in London area but you might have to log onto individual chemists map icons to find the allergy service. They may have e mail contact and will have phone contact. Very satisfied with professional pharmacist with link to NHS and case history taken. Private room.
PS. I found that re introducing the food brought on a relapse. I ate cous cous thinking it would be a substitute for rice. Ha..it is wheat and I have multigrain intolerance . Barley may be barley malt beer or soft drinks in malt vinegar and mayonnaise. It is not as easy as you first think. If I have trouble I can track it back to something I have eaten without reading ingredients.
Thanks for the info. I will take a look at the website
Alphega pharmacy map locator may be a search phrase. Alcohol may be an intolerance or foods with vinegar acetic acid or citric acid . These may not be on food list. Too high fats without enough enzymes to digest them may also cause symptoms as well as stress. Betaine supplement helps some people. It is found in beetroot but only a little is needed a day.
You get the full effect around 6 weeks, do you use monash app? Quantity is the secret to the fodmap success. For example; 2 slices of low fodmap bread ok but 3 is bad. Monash has all the 'safe' serving sizes of common foods, I have a cheap food scale to measure it out
If you continue to have issues after being on the fodmap diet for longer, you'd need to inform your GP. Those who don't respond to the fodmap diet at all may have BAM (Bile Acid Malabsorption) and need to be tested for that. It has a different treatment.
Are you working with a registered dietitian? They will be able to help. We always suggest following the diet with the guidance of a dietitian.
Yes i am working with a Registered dietician
