Has anyone tried the Elimination diet? I have been seeing a dietician since last year and still haven't managed to start it due to planning and preparation of it all. It is very limited in that you can only choose 2 types of meat, 3 types of vegetables and 3 types of fruit and then you can only have rice based cereals. I've been told by the end of the first 2 weeks I should notice a difference in my ibs symptoms and feel much better. Could anyone offer any advice?

Elimination Diet
It will be worth it. I have to admit I have done my own. I am taking multi vitamins to compensate as struggling to find my fruit and veg as currently I can only tolerate green salad and bananas. Do have some rice but thankfully I seem ok with wheat. I am hoping to introduce more food after about a month. I have to say that after six months of constant cramping this has now stopped. I am just left with constant anxiety that it will return.....that is the worst. It is worth trying as, at least for me it brought relief.
I'm glad that has worked for you and you're feeling better. I will start it as soon as I can. Thanks
what vitamins are you taking? I cant eat fruit at all and some veg but someone has told me about the juice plus capsules for fruit and veg and i'm thinking of trying them? x
I use the FODMAP diet developed by Monash Univ. in Australia. It helps my IBS d quite a bit. It is less restrictive than the diet you are describing.
I use the eating plan you are talking about but only berries no other fruit, only green Veges but no lettuce, no carbs, like biscuits cake wine etc.
I had it worse. Dietician put me on an exclusion diet, this started with just bottled water! It took about 3 months to introduce foods one at a time.
This process did eliminate Wheat, onions and garlic inc associated foods.
Then did the FODMAP diet. Didn’t work for me though.
The exclusion diet was well with it though and not as bad as it sounds once you get started.
I did the elimination diet about 8 years ago. I managed it for a month keeping a food and poo diary. I was told I was gluten intolerant from that but it was missed that I am in fact allergic it milk products. I ate a lot of rice cakes and butternut squash soup. And yes very limiting. Turkey or lamb for meat. Most of the fruit on the list I can’t eat but did make my own cranberry jelly from the recipe. Luckily these days there are more dairy free milks about as was only allowed rice milk - not sure if that’s the only thing still allowed. Suffered badly with the caffeine withdrawal - so much so I have never reverted to any caffeine drinks ( makes ibs worse anyway) I’ve not had a cup of tea since then either.
The reintroduction part was very hard. To be honest because the clinic thought it was gluten they kind of said it was okay eating normal again. I already knew certain triggers that I’ve not eaten for years.
Good luck hope it works for you
Thanks for information everyone, I am going start the diet next week. I have been told by the dietitian that i can have Rice Krispies with rice milk but i've noticed on the ingredients they contain barley malt flavoring. I'm now thinking if it will be okay to have or is it me just being paranoid
