Heads messed up

So finally got my dietitian appointment tomorrow. Having a flare today, not slept all night with discomfort and nausea the 7 this morning eventually began to pass motion a d have been 6 times now. Had my sibo test which what negative. I was absolutely gutted. I so wanted to get some relief from my symptoms. I witnessed my dad and brother go through IBD with UC and both ended up with multiple surgeries? A bag on and the luckily a reversal. Even after witnessing all that sometimes in my head I find my self wishing I had something, either IBD, cancer, diverticulitis, parasites, anything at all! Just something that could have some form of successful treatment. How f***ed up is that?! I obviously dont want that or to be serverly ill, but in my desperation I cant help but want something to be wrong with me that can be fixed. My pain is real, my lack of sleep is real, my nausea is real, my need to go 6 times ending with diarrhoea is real. I'm not making it up, I'm doing everything in my power to not make it worse and yet nothing is physically wrong with me so it is not curable. I'm back with my GI on 5th Jan. Not sure where it'll go from here though.

Did you ever get tested for bile malabsorption?

Nope. At my last appointment I believe they said if sibo was negative they would just give me the treatment for BAM rather than put me through the test (xrays) because of my age. So I guess I'll see at the GI app in Jan?

Yes, if I were you I would push for the medication for BAM, it will either work or it won't! But you won't know if they don't let you try it.

Good luck with the dietitian appointment and good advice from Maureen1958. If it is IBS-D, you haven't tried the fodmap diet yet and the dietitian will take through this - it could help you greatly. It completely fixed my IBS-D and nausea (caused by excess gas). I had 2 separate 6 month continuous bouts of this, which I had to juggle alongside work. The fodmap diet completely sorted me and the "D" hasn't returned since (although I suffer from IBS-C now).

Well that was a waste if time. The dietitian wasn't even fodmap trained and the next available appointment is in March. He said in shock 'you have been on it since September' I said yes because I was going on the restriction section of th deit to then see a dietitian to start reintroduction. I cant stay on this restricted diet until March!! So frustrating!!!

Oh dear. How annoying Daisy2191. Did they give you the fodmap reintroduction booklet at any point, which tells you how to do it?

Nope nothing. As they weren't for map trained had no information about it. He said this appointment was to determine if I needed referral to a fodmap dietitian I was sat there in disbelief thinking isn't what my GI referred me for in the first place because I have IBS.

Sounds like they've messed up i.e. you've already seen a dietitian for the first stage. Perhaps a visit to the GP to put you on the emergency list since they've make a mistake and you're only meant to be on it for 6-8 weeks. Good luck.

Are you saying that at the moment you are not eating fodmaps and you are still getting diarrhea? The idea is that not eating fodmaps should stop your diarrhea. The reintroduction phase won't fix your diarrhea, it just figures out what you can eat without giving your diarrhea or other symptoms. I am now thinking more along the lines of Maureen1958's post about BAM.
