No support at school: 10 year old daughter with... - IBS Network
No support at school
First concentrate on the hospital appointment, as your daughter's health comes before anything. When you see your IBS team, on Thursday, tell them about your daughter's school, and ask if you can have a letter explaining the symptoms and conditions under which she is struggling to maintain a "normal" lifestyle. When you have the letter from your IBS team, contact the head teacher and the chair of Governors and demand a meeting. Why are they penalising your daughter for a hidden disability? Why are they discriminating against her due to her hidden disability? Why have they not made changes to accommodate her hidden disability? If you require any further assistance you can contact CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) or even come back on here and we can try to assist. Good luck and keep us posted.
Shocking and disgraceful. Do not pay anything. I personally would go in and give that school a verbal roasting that they would not forget. How dare they! You have enough to deal with and they have a duty of care towards your child that they are clearly failing in. If you don't get anywhere, a formal complaint to the LEA and Chair of the board of Governors copying the head-teacher.
