Oregano Oil
I'd also be interested to know, didn't know that Oregano Oil was supposed to be good for IBS.
Yes it's great, definitely get some. This is in the period where you want to knock down your bad bacteria or SIBO. It can help immediately in a flare up too. It is much better than peppermint.
Oregano is a natural yeast killer so if it does help you might want to get checked for Candida.
It really depends on what is going on in your system. Oregano oil is meant to be antibacterial and antifungal. If you have an overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria or fungus, the theory is, it might help. However, in the ideal situation if you can feed your good bacteria or support your system with probiotics (if you can't tolerate prebiotics), this should help shift the balance in your intestines to the good stuff. I was told to take ADP Oregano when I was diagnosed with SIBO (too much bacteria in the small intestine). However, the tests for SIBO are not accurate and in the end I don't think I ever had it. Personally I couldn't tolerate Oregano Oil because it gave me pain, but not everyone is the same. You might want to read this regarding potential side effects: medium.com/@marketing_16987.... I tried other natural antimicrobials, but these did nothing for me. It all depends on the physiological reason for your IBS symptoms e.g. bad bugs, brain/gut axis, an abnormally long colon etc. Having said that if you decide to go ahead, perhaps there's no harm in giving it a trial, but maybe stick to no more than a month or so to see if it is making any difference.
