Do you ever overheat later in the evening?

Hi all,

I've had IBS/like symptoms for almost 2 years now that appear change a lot and have particularly worsened recently.

I'm currently only taking omeprazole 20mg once a day, in the morning. I'm generally OK, unless I eat wheat, dairy, or anything that contains spicy food, beans, etc.

But in the past few weeks I've started to really.. overheat in the evenings. It feels like I'm getting really flushed in my torso, chest, face, ears, front and back of neck. Feels really hot. Slightly warmer than usual on the outside, but inside I feel like I'm burning up.

Could this be because my digestive system is working overtime or something and does anybody else experience anything like this? It's just so uncomfortable.

Thanks

In answer to your question, yes. I keep a hand towel by my side in the evenings, and invariably, it ends up soaked through. I also put a bath also on my pillows, in bed, and, in the morning, the towel is soaked through. All I can do is limit the effects of the sweating, not the sweating itself, unfortunately.

Well, I'm very sorry that you're experiencing this too but I am at least glad to hear that I'm not going mad.

Amy idea what might be causing it, and do you think it's related to IBS?

I think it is, probably the bodies way of trying to out whatever is causing us problems, be it pain, or symptoms of IBS or heartburn/ulcers. BTW that should have read bath towel in my previous reply.

Haha, I had guessed that you didn't put a bath on your pillows, it's OK. I may try that myself. I've had a cold, damp cloth on the back of my neck all afternoon as well.

Hi, I get these hot flushes and then other times feel really cold. At first I put it down to the menopause which obviously it couldn't be in your case. I am not too sure what it is but I have a theory (I have a lot of those) that it's down the stomach contents moving around inside you when they are a bit runny and then another time when they have dried out, I feel cold. Like I say just my own theory to try to cope with it.

Yeah, I rarely feel cold in that way but I DO always have cold hands and feet. Like I can literally wear socks at home all day and take them off any my feet are still freezing.

I definitely think you're right re: the stomach stuff though. There's something related to that going on here.
